I would therefore argue that it would be very undemocratic to have one vote for one State - or at least - if we were to follow your idea - this vote should be compounded by the size of the population of each State.

The UN never purported to be a democracy. The UN is a private organization whose members are chosen by invitation only.
It was never designed to be some kind of World Government. It's main purpose is to keep peaceful relations in the world by keeping the peace between the permanent Security Council members.
