Do you have a link about this ? I never heard so far Sarkosy proposing a VAT increase. That would be a very bad idea

Yes, I agree.
I think that borrowing for 30+ years in kinda absurd. Of course you'll get a property (at the end of your life), but after paying 3 times the price of the house, is it worthy ?
In France you can borrow on very long periods, until 40 years, and propably 50 years soon. I think it's a nonsense.
