It simply isnt fair to blame the military alone, when it is the media that exponentially exacerbated the situation. Tillman, regardless of anything, was a hero, as are the millions of others in the military, from the grunts to the generals. Congress, and the Tillmans, and the media, and the military should all stop playing politics and recognize that.

How exactly do you know the Tillman family?
Sorry, it isn't a case of conflicting views. It's pretty obvious that the military covered up key facts that they felt would hurt a story that would stir up sentiment for the war. I agree that the media shares some blame for running with a story without questioning anything, but that doesn't exempt people in the military who covered up the truth. I see no moral basis where anyone could argue to the contrary.

I know the Tillman family because I grew up in the same neighborhood. I never hung out with Pat or his brother much (they're a little younger than me), but I know his mom because my mother and her know each other well. My mom taught them in high school, too. Everyone who knows them knows that they are good people.
