I wouldn't call the recount of a Presidential election nonsense. What I do remember that was nonsense, was the likes of Tom DeLay staffers banging on the doors demanding they stop the recount. People who weren't even from Florida telling Floridians to stop counting their own votes; now that's nonsense.
Then in response to the paper ballot "nonsense" (being about to recount), the Republicans instituted electronic voting, outsourced to private for profit corporations, who demonstrated little desire to protect the integrity of our election system, with little or no oversight or transparency; and absolutely no method to verify election tallies, or conduct recounts.
No more machines, unless they are by the people, and for the people. No more outsourcing our election process, EVER!
I hope this is the beginning to the end of HAVA; RIP.
