I think you don't mean the guy who perished in Iraq yesterday in the road blast. You mean there are some cases of murders in Russia when the victims appear to be journalists. That's right but you must know that that rate has decreased greatly since the 90-s. The only reasonable statement you can surely conclude is that, yes, Russian government, intelligence and police unfortunately can not put out the criminality and protect the lives of the citizens. If you want to say that our secret services have killed Politkovskaya, you must present some real proofs besides the moronic media speculations, that this killing was would-be profitable for Putin.

Russian citizens cannot sell their wares on weekly markets in Netherlands, they must be citizens of the EU or Netherlands for that - so what?

The regional election system in Russia is now equal to the one of France. So, what's the matter?

The political opponents like the Communist Party are free to present their position, publish the newspapers and demonstrate the protests. The political figures directly maintained and financed by the US Congress and collaborating with organizations like CIA and it's umbrella NGOs are not the opponents, yet even their press have full freedom (another point is that they are so widely distrusted and despised in society that nobody buys their newspapers, but here is MY freedom - not to buy their sh..t, right?). Their activities are still tolerated because of Russian extra-liberal laws against the foreign agents affecting the inner policy. I hope we will have the stern law like in the US soon.
