No he's not. Reread his post. Nor is what he said slanderous or a false rumor.

Yeah, but you have to admit our politics are seriously funny sometimes.

Yes, sometimes it is. The incident itself (the sexually explicit communications with minors - if some of the recipients were minors) is not at all funny.

The reactions, however, are sadly amusing.

It's all based on the media, they will show you what you want to watch, because if they don't, someone else will, and you won't watch/read/visit their outlet.
This is what the public loves, raw meat in the form of a powerful man laid low by human weakness, and what could be better, than a followup in the next rotation about another powerful man also getting his comeuppance, and if you can keep them coming, you can go for weeks with the story.

This is an even more fabulous story, because the guy isn't from the tolerant, liberal party that condones the type of behavior he has engaged in, he's from the fire and brimstone party, it's his law that makes interstate solicitation of sex from minors a crime. Hypocrisy makes great ratings when it's exposed.

And this kind of scandal is like a vortex, it draws in those around it, especially those with sketchy excuses, and as a few more fall into the vortex, it becomes more powerful.

ABC made "The Path to 9/11", they spent millions making it, and they calculated that the message would bring them political favor, in a business where political decisions can cost Billions or put billions in your pocket.

Then ABC broke this story, not the same people who put together the 9/11 propaganda piece. This was broke open by people competing for eyeballs, because if they didn't do it, someone else would have.

And the irony is that it may mean that all the political favor they bought with "the path to 911" was with the new minority party.

I'm thinking, it's all going to look like desparation now.

You guys have no idea how sweet this feels right now.

I know the GOP worked hard to move the Clinton smears into the media, they spent millions on opposition research, planted rumours, bribed people to lie, and put ethics away to maneuver a case that should never have been in court into a place where they could compel Clinton into giving a deposition.
In a sense they earned that, they set out to smear the guy and they spent heavy and worked long hours.

This just fell into our laps, some page boys seeing if they could get the gross guy to say something stupid on IM, and laughing their asses off, and screen printing it, for chuckles. Then showing other kids, for laughs, and it finally fell into the hands of someone who got it to ABC. We didn't earn this, it just fell into our laps, like finding a winning lottery ticket in a parking lot as you get into your car. It's like winning a World Series game on an error, or a bad call by an umpire. But still, we'll take it.

I know it's not over yet,and they are still up a couple of points, but it is late in the fourth quarter, and they just fumbled on their own 3 yard line..........
I don't have to wait for the game to be over to cheer.

I know we're pretty fucked up aren't we? I'm as amazed as you are. But this is a scandal people can understand. People don't want to learn the intricasies of the Abramoff scandal. They don't want to read the NIE or the SIC reports. Our people aren't educated, they are too busy, they are fat and happy etc...

Re: Gay Sex Wrong? The Loonies say so!

The problem generally with the politics is if spin can comlicate the story then it a can cloud the issue.

This scandal is simple, it sex, caught red handed. And the smell of a cover up of it is a sight of systematic cover up from a party... It's all juicy and is all sells well for ratings...

I pretend nothing.

Have you not asserted that pedophiles ought to be imprisoned?

Have you not asserted that Rep. Foley is de facto a pedophile?

I rest my case.

You are making your argument based entirely upon your own supposed (and sanctimonious) moral indignation (independent of the rule of law). I warned you about the danger of your line of thinking, yet you persisted. Thus, you draw my wrath and will be reminded of it. WEB used to play the same game.
