Hmm..I was under the impression that tolerance and acceptance of homosexuals existed beyond Oregon. California and the North-East come to mind, especially Massachussets. But if it makes you feel better to consider this point of view to be a fringe minority, only existing in Oregon, please, continue. Don't let trivial things like 'facts' get in your way.

You have confused being tolerant of homosexual conduct with accepting or even promoting homosexual conduct with a government licence

I was pointing out that acceptance and tolerance of homosexuals extends far beyond the borders of Oregon, by both the state and the citizens. In California and the north-east USA, a significant portion of the population is ok with them. There are similarly liberal-minded people living all over the country, particularly in urban areas.

Quite likely they have been led to believe that it is wrong, yes. They fear ostracism and rejection, and quite possibly have a hard time dealing with their own sexuality.

I like it, Mr. Rakk, unable to make a thoughtful comment on any of the points I raised, you resort to character assassination--good technique, throw in a few smileys and you'll soon catch up with the another poster on this thread.

Just for the record I'm neither a "homeboy" (I'm more of a "homegirl") nor a homosexual (being happily and legally married). I am, however, capable of reading and understanding the concept of "equal protection under the law". I can also recognize the creeping facism that George is promoting.

It's kind of hard to promote something that is a genetic condition. Kind of like promoting left-handedness, the Christian church used to discriminate against lefties too. Equal protection can hardly be considered "promotion" unless a person is seriously ignorant of the rights guaranteed by the Constitution.
