What do you parents do to yourselves when your kids find out you've done something wrong?

I wonder because it seems like people are quick to hit their kids; Yet, what punishment do they do unto themselves when they've done something their kids are not allowed to do?

I've been told having kids in the first place is an unending punishment in itself...

I do find that many parents do not like those that are against spanking tell them how to raise their children. Then they go on and tell those that don't how they are the reason kids are bad these days. Go figure.

Oh, it's not just the spanking parents that engage in such rabid hypocrisy. When was the last time you saw an adult send themselves to stand in the corner? Or write "I will not..." 100 times on a chalkboard? Or not get dessert for a week!

Can we safely say that maybe, just maybe, the way kids are punished should be different from the way adults are punished?

There may be good arguments against spanking; this isn't one of them.

Ha! Definitely unending! They have kids of their own and then want you to babysit but not offer any advice on raising the grandkids, unless they're in the mood to listen that day, which isn't very often, but they never pay attention because they know it all even though you've raised kids of your own but you can't possibly know how kids are supposed to be raised like when to potty train, wean, and all that other stuff that you've already been through with them and then they drive you crazy until you just start rambling on in an unending sentence wishing all the while you'd never had kids to start with.......



(Just joking! I truly love my grandchildren and gladly babysit my granddaughter two to four days a week!)

Secondly, as steveox pointed out, the question is stupid. Reminds me of a disagreement with some friends about how to handle some homework issues. They recommende watching some touchy-feely tape, siting a specific example like:
How would a wife react if the husband came home and said "I think your housework is pretty good, but you can do better. If you do well enough, I'll give you a gold star and if you collect five of them, you can join me for a nice dinner out!"

Yes, I realized it's stupid to treat Anyone like a child. So I sat down with our 8-yr old daughter and said:
"Your mother and I have been reviewing your performance over the last few months, including the fact that you've had multiple warnings about your behavior and that we've tried several different motivational schemes, all to no effect. I think you should take the rest of the day off - no chores, no homework, watch some TV, whatever. Then you have two weeks to get your room cleaned out and find another family."

Kids are kids, and adults are adults. Treating either one too much like the other (unless specificially warranted) is a mistake.

Well, what do you do when your kid figures out you've been doing something wrong?
What example do you set?
Isnt it rather pathetic that you simply tell them "well, i'm the adult and can do what I want."

While insisting they follow some illogical guideline of "just listen to us."

Kids are smart, you know. They figure you out quick.
