Morocco is about 2000 km distant from the Arab peninsula. Would you call a Irishman a Greek ? ![]() Maghreb appears to be in use in English. At least Wiki has it. The Oxford English Dictionary doesn't. Anyway, I'm sorry you got a bad impression of Brussels. It's not my favourite Belgian city either. Ghent is. ![]() (for Francophobic readers -and according to the rules- : "Sure, we have little choice in Belgium with Paris an hour away to the south. Re: What kind of girls?
Can I just nip in with a little bit of off-thread?
Some years ago I was in Brussels for a day out, I'd been staying in Genval in southern Belgium which means of course it's in the Walloon, French-speaking region. I must admit to have spent a few hours going through the various beers on offer (superb) and wandered back to Gare Central (I think it was), realising I should get the train back to Genval. Trouble was it was rush hour. I thought I'd give it a miss. So I wandered up to a bar and thought I'd see if there were any beers I missed out on before (there were several so I tried them as well). Anyway I was a bit - um - merry but also confused, I couldn't work out which platform I needed to be on to get back to Genval. Happily I remembered enough and worked out that all the Flemish-speaking people over that side of the platform must have been going north so the French-speaking people on this side of the platform must be going south. Sure enough I found the right train. And I still had enough time to visit another bar in Genval before eventually getting to bed, full as a boot and happy as a sandboy.

Great story and excellent observation, especially in such dire conditions ![]() As for the beers, you could've been busy quite a while as there are at least 300 regional beers (list (in Dutch) here : http://users.skynet.be/triplebee/bier/biertjes.html). Internationally known beers such as Stella Artois are among the most harmless and common ones. I assure you you wouldn't drink five 'Westmalle 12' in a row.

Mainly Turks, second or third generation of emigrants, are fairly unknown for well performed integration and 'proper' behavior

That's a gross generalization, and a biased statement, and obviously not meant to be taken seriously.

Re: What kind of girls?
What kind of girls go for this shit? All kinds. Even smart girls go for morons. That's the wonderful mystery of it all. Disgusting men who wear their desperation on their sleeves will talk to a pack of girls like the one mentioned by the OP, and they'll get you even if they don't "get" you. Girls will spend the better part of an entire night out duking it out with idiots instead of sifting through the weasels and engaging with more interesting men.
For instance, a girl will get hit on by some machismo-oozing guy who can't put an original thought of his own together, and what will some girls do? They'll engage the guy. "Does that line every work?". They'll stick around and exchange barbs with men who are "lower" than them, to get their kicks, or because they don't really have the confidence themselves to break away from morons and meet more interesting men. Which leads us to why so many women, when asked about what they're looking for in a guy will say, "I want a guy whose confident but not arrogant", "I want a guy who says all the right things", "I want a guy who can make me laugh", "I want a guy who knows when to be serious, and when not to be". Those thoughts aren't really indicative of what a woman really wants; it actually is expressing what she lacks in herself and is projecting out onto other people. I'm getting heady now. Sorry. I just wanted to say, if you're really sick of getting approached by idiots, than confront them head on, tell them you're not interested, ignore them, go somewhere else. You're only imprisonned by your own self. No excuses for wasting your night with losers. |

Its hard to get away from someone when they are following you in a car. But as I said at least i was with some girls on the Saturday. I d say most women on their own would be freaked out by this kind of behaviour. But from my experience the best thing to do is ignore these kind of men. However I just can t believe this pulling technique could have worked even once. What does the girl do? Jump in a car with a load of strange men? I honestly can t believe that ever happened

Re: What kind of girls?
It's a modern world thing. Our methods in trying to find a mate are influenced by the female (and male) stereotypes represented in the media, literature and advertising. Of course real women (and men) don't fit those stereotypes and we fail dismally.
