Re: Protect all/and *cough* queer children

The problem, Bob, is that you seem to be suggesting that only gay kids would be protected from bullying. That's clearly not the case. So, you're projecting your own paranoia about homosexuality into an issue where it's irrelevant.

The fact, Bob, is that there are no gay people who are interested in having sex with you. You're safe.

Nah Mare, you've got it all wrong. Homo-day would be when we could pitch our tents in public parks and send out armies of recruiters with clip boards to get new members to sign up. Each heterosexual we manage to convince to sign the application form and join the team gets a one year subscription to a gym of their choice, and a new waffle maker.

If you don't want to have to worry about all the nonsense associated with public school simply do not send your children to them. I can assure you my son (now 1 month old) will NEVER attend a public school.

Can I re-sign up under an assumed name to get the waffle maker?

The Oregon Legislature just this afternoon passed both a State-wide anti-discrimination bill covering GLBT people and a Domestic Partnership bill giving all people access to all the State rights of marriage. (Federal rights still are beyond our reach.) The Governor has said that he will sign both bills just as soon as he gets them!

Re: Protect all/and *cough* queer children

My nephew in NY goes to a pretty much all minority technology magnet high school. He got mugged twice and his cell phone was stolen. My borhter went to the school to talk to the prncipal (who is black) and the principal just said - "Hey, a white kid in this neighborhood, what do you expect?"

My brother replied "Oh, a black kid in Brighton (a suburb), what do you expect?"

The school took action.

Could you imagine the press and reaction if there was a homo day!!!
All children deserve a safe environment, that’s why these special rights legislations erk me. I’m happy they had the insight to change the original wording of only certain kids to all kids.

You shouldn’t put so much into it. It’s just a discussion topic that exposes what George Orwell was trying to convey behind the Iron curtain when these socialists parliament legislations were taking over West Berlin. It began with special rights. Queer activists are part of a group that is normalizing this type of legislation. If you disagree please do it in some fashion near Oxford style debate format. If you wish to debate “source credibility” please start your own thread on it.
Try to pretend it really happened and lets go from there.
Ok I have had WAY past enough with conservatives using Orwell's name to justify their bullshit. This is not an attempt to legislate thought it is an attempt to legislate BEHAVIOR. This does not apply at all to Orwell's concept of thought-crime or anything else that has anything to do with 1984.

I understand it’s not so much of a problem anymore parse, but I thought it would make an interesting discussion as this is what we do here.

Kind of a colorful metaphor for the implication that young children even have a sex drive, more or less the mental capacity to suppose they can be a bunch of queers.

Well, actually, sexuality does start to exhibit itself at a fairly young age. But, that's that "science" thing that you're so afraid of.
