hehehe, it was funny. Nothing like a good ol' tongue tied blooper to make people laugh.

But I'll be honest; even though I've spoken in front of groups before, being on TV and in front of a large group of people would probably make me choke too.

Re: Miss Teen USA 2007 - South Carolina Answers a Question

This is probably the most torturous statement in history, it physically twists your brain trying to make sense of it.

Quote:
Question:

"Recent polls have shown a fifth of Americans can't locate the U.S. on a world map. Why do you think this is?"

Lauren Caitlin Upton:

"I personally believe... that U.S. Americans are unable to do so... because...

"Uh... some people out there in our nation don't have maps...

"And... uh... I believe that our education, like such as in South Africa and... uh... the Iraq, everywhere, like, such as...

"And I believe that they should...

"Our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S... uh...

"Or, should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries...

"So we will be able to build up our future... for our [children]."
I think Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C. should rethink her application. What in tarnations, are they teaching "U.S. Americans" in South Carolina?

She's just set back Blondes another 1,000 years. My daughters will now have to shake the stigma of Miss Lauren Caitlin Upton.

Obama's Margin of Victory

"Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear."

Re: Miss Teen USA 2007 - South Carolina Answers a Question

Well I see a bright mind honestly. What if she awknowledged that the american people are clueless about the world - would she have any chance of winning the competition? I wouldnt be surprised if that is what she thought.

She is trying to give a positive spin to the question, and also trying to evoke emotion (children, poor countries). Obviously she has experience at this.
