Thankfully, Dad changed his mind in later years and is no longer the prejudiced person he once was. It's the same for many in this area. We intermingle with blacks on a daily basis, and many of the younger generation are in interracial relationships. So while we may have racial roots, we're changing all the time and it's time the rest of the country recognizes that.
Here it is about age and different areas. We have a county close by that hasn't changed much in decades. It's still all white and black people know they are not welcome. In other areas the younger generations are very opened minded but many older people are still pretty hateful. I'm sure it's probably the same everywhere but to different degrees.

Perhaps because the former one has a massive precedent in your country, while I am not exactly aware of the latter having one in the US. And by massive precedent I mean lots of dead people.

It's true that about the age and different areas however, 40 years ago, racism was far more prevalent throughout the south than it is today. The pockets of racism are growing smaller and smaller with every generation and though we'll never be totally free of it, I think we've made big steps toward conquering it. The most racial town in my area doesn't have near as many problems as it did even 20 years ago when the high school had to be shut down regularly due to rumors of race riots. That's the kind of progress that many refuse to see and because they won't, people like Ajax will continue to ignorantly look down on the south.

Why is it that a comment from 1942 Mobile, Alabama could also be applied to 2007 Jena, Louisiana? Every part of the nation has made some advances in social justice except in The South.

And here we have another ignorant comment from Ajax. All bullshit, no proof.

If that were true, African American kids wouldn't have been at that school to begin with. I don't know why you have this mental image that the south is nothing but a gang of Dunningites, but you are wrong, sir.

Scratch that - I know why you have that image. I don't know why you choose to believe it.

You mind touching on this.... Jena 6
