Is that a yes? Please be clear and precise and, if at all humanly possible, less vague...

    Well, I disagree.

Skin color cannot be changed. Sexual orientation cannot be changed. Gender cannot be changed.

The length of someone's hair can be changed. For that reason, it's not true "discrimination".

Now, go get a haircut, and get a fucking job...

You are wrong once again. Discrimination is discrimination, no matter what the criteria are.

    discrimination - Definitions from Dictionary.com

    1. an act or instance of discriminating.
    2. treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit: racial and religious intolerance and discrimination.
So, do you disagree with the dictionary too?

I did not say people weren't proffesional due to long or short hair. I said "look".

I'm not against long hair at all. But if you have long hair, people will judge you based on it, when they first see you. First impressions in a physical meeting are made on appearance. Just like in a thread I made awhile ago, where I joked about being stopped at Lowe's due to my tattoo's. EVERYBODY judges people on their appearance. There is nothing wrong with that. You have your boyfriend/girlfriend/husband or wife based in some part on how they look to you.

    Thank you.

    Unfortunate, but again, true.

But, we don't mind if our girl friend's or wives have long hair, or wear pants.

So, my point is, that while everyone judges other's on their appearance, it's wrong to judge someone to be unprofessional based solely on that one aspect of their appearance.

Wrong? I don't know. But to judge how someone works based on looks is to possibly deny you of a quality employee.

However, people use personal grooming as a basis to judge how they feel about themselves, therefore how they most likely will do their job. If a person won't take the time to make themselves look nice, how can I be sure that they'll take the time to do a thorough job for the customer?

And that is precisely one of the points I am trying to make. Looks and work are seperate, and an employer (all reasonable ones, for that matter) should realize this.

Are you saying that long hair cannot look "nice"?

What is wrong with long hair, neatly pulled back in a ponytail, shampooed daily? Does it not look "nice" to you? If not, how do you judge "nice"?

You're running 3 threads: abortion, long hair, and abusive phone calls. I'm curious, since you are against abortion and for long hair on men, would you be willing to voice your support for long-haired men making abusive phone calls to people who have abortions?

This is an irrelevant question. Anyway, the answer is no. I am not for making abusive calls to anyone, irrespective of their thoughts on abortion, or other issues. If you have noticed, I have repeatedly said that I abhor insults and name calling, which do more harm to those insulting rather than those being insulted, and give us all a peek into the person's true character.

I hope that helped a bit, Mare. Let me know if I was unclear.

Anyway, getting back on topic. Why can a man with long hair not look "nice"?

Wouldn't that depend on whether he had made abusive phone calls or had an abortion?

No. Furthermore, I am unsure as to why you are trying to divert the thread into nonsensical topics, but I refuse to be baited.

Anyway, you haven't answered the question. Why can a man with long hair not look "nice"? Perhaps you could stick to the point for once. Thanks for your co-operation.

I think your basic premise is faulty.

And as usual, a dodge, but no conclusive answer.

Is it safe to assume you don't have any argument to offer?
