Remember what Boss Tweed said about this subject?

Still true today.
I'm dead against public funding. It's a recipe for milquetoast PC candidacy from both sides of the aisle.
People should put their own money where their politics are, not "donate" to some fund that doles out their money. That's what unions like the UAW do today and ~40% of them don't vote for the candidate that their unions pick.

94% of all Americans give zero money to politicians.

It is only special interest groups and those 6% (and by total given, the top 1% of income earners, the mega-rich, are greatest givers) constute 100% of those billions given (aggregate total).

Is it any surprise we have a government by auction?

I prefer knowing who's giving money to being forced to give money to candidates that I may not support. Public funding of campaigns is bogus. We get crap candidates now. Just imagine what we'd get if they were funded "by committee".

Well, we'd get candiates who are actually from the people, not the money.

Again, remember what Tweed said?

I'm not interested in being forced to pay for the campaign of someone picked by a PC committee. No thanks.
