Re: 9/11. A pictorial/comment tribute.
The first thoughts I had that day were - are my family and friends safe? Where is my brother? Running around Manhattan because of his his job. How do I find him? Where is my pregnant sister-in-law? Is this a "Manhattan" day for her? Or is she home? She did go into Manhattan - but got home safely. My sister is out of town - so she is fine. Finally I got through to my brother. Then I spent time on the phone with my Mom. How is this possible? They're attacking our New York. Both towers fell. Every minute of that day is imprinted on my mind. And it was so beautiful that day: bright sun, early fall.

Re: 9/11. A pictorial/comment tribute.
And to O'Sullivan - and to all those who lost someone they loved - I'm sorry. I didn't have to grieve for someone I loved. You did and so did thousands of others all over the world. I'm sorry.

Denial is a person acting like a prick and not even realizing it.

Look very very close at this picture. Do those look like Middle Eastern men and women to you??
Particularly the clothing..

Re: 9/11. A pictorial/comment tribute.
I disagree. The future is all we have. Respect for the dead would best be DONE by more carefully considering our future. That's MY opinion. I believe if the dead could speak they'd agree with me.

Keep appeasing and playing pattycake and tiddlywinks with people that want to murder us all. Other options ? I am. Some don't agree with me ? I may not agree with how you and THEY "show respect for the dead." |

India/Iraq/Iran, they all start with "I" and save for the dot on the women's foreheads and bare arms, faces (and probably exposed sides), they wear those wrap things to the ground, and then there's the whole men with towel on the head thing, and the whacky religion. Hard to tell those folks on the other side of the world apart. (sarcasm)Yes, I know, I'm being very harsh about an innocent mistake but like my "bucket of sunshine" feelings after 9/11, (from the other, better 9/11 thread), I think it's important not to jump to conclusions about anything. Even if it were a group of Muslim folks, how can anyone know what the message in this picture of a sand sculpture is without a caption? I don't want my life to be driven by fear, hate, superstition and suspicion. (Thane, you fool. You should have waited a couple of minutes. You just can't help throwing yourself under the bus)

Re: 9/11. A pictorial/comment tribute.
That's a first thing. Second thing is, it isn't clear wether the people and the sand castle are one or two different pictures. Third thing is, the sand castle is not necessarily a glorification of the terrorist attack.
