Re: Another School Shooting (Here, again in CO)

Forced entry rarely results in no injuries. It's a last resort.

Re: Another School Shooting (Here, again in CO)

I always wonder why all of these school shootings always have so few casualties (with the exception of coordinated terrorist takeovers). It's such a big deal, but a few hours later it's one dead gunman and less than two dead and maybe some injured. What is it? Bad guns? Lack of will? Little time? Lack of control over hostages?

Someone should tell them that bad press can be prevented by not abusing prisoners in the first place. Censorship is only needed to preserve the good reputation of those who have tortured and/or murdered already.

Stupidity. Criminals that do things like this are usually not the sharpest knives in the drawer.

That's the problem with attack plans - the bad guy gets a vote, too.

It's a shame, because we have a lovely facility down here that is just perfect for him, had he not offed himself. It's called Colorado State Prison.

Re: Another School Shooting (Here, again in CO)

I've yet to read a report that identified whether or not the gunman was a student or not. It doesn't really make that much of difference, I guess, but have you guys heard anything?

Also, was this a random shooting or was he after that girl in particular? Or has any of that been released/known?

It looks like they still don't really know who he is. This is the most recent story that I have read.

These guys are usually not criminals or terrorists just very sick puppies...

A state prison assumes that they can be rehabiltated by a prison. This guy needed a high-security mental hospital.

Re: Another School Shooting (Here, again in CO)

I just listened to a press conference with the Sheriff of Park County.

Apparently, the decision to initiate the breach was triggered by the suspect sexually assaulting one of the hostages.

Holy Crap! I've been busy at work this morning and haven't been able to keep up on the story. Thanks for the update Matt.

Jeez, how awful.

They were never "habilitated" in the first place. A prison is just a warehouse for those that society deems unacceptable. Short of brain surgery, there isn't much that can be done to change them.

Re: Another School Shooting (Here, again in CO)

This guy needed brain surgery - the kind that leaves the muzzle at ~3000 fps.
