Ask him what a pram is and I bet first he has to go to google and do a search. Although you could have done the same thing and it would have answered you question.

True enough, but I figured: whats the point of posting on an American politics forum if you can't ask questions about....American politics

Feel free to ask and then just ignore the ugly Americans when they show their ugliness

I'm not sure he was actually belittling me. Sometimes I read stuff ( both here and in life generally ) and I think: come on you must know that, thats really basic stuff that is, how can you not know it ? I wonder if he was having one of those moments. Now, if I was American it'd be a fairly reasonable viewpoint to hold, but as a Brit I'm not as well versed in the quirks of American politics as an American would be.

Well as an American, knowing this guy from previous posts, he was in effect belittling you. But I would not let it worry you to much. I don't know if you were familiar with Blackleaf on this board or not. If you are consider him our equivalent, or one of them. If you aren't just read some of his replies and you will see what I mean.

Some of us actually are interested in discussion and welcome it.

As I don't feel belittled I guess it's a case of no harm done.

one of the posters has a sig that points out that there are people in europe that haven't had the smarts to learn english. It sounds funny, but I know of a woman that toured europe with that opinion, and when she got home all she did was complain thatshe didn't enjoy the trip because it was so hard to find an inteligent person who spoke english

Surely this thread has now served its purpose and now can be closed?

Or maybe be renamed as "101 ways liberals can use abused children to make fun of the GOP" or something like that?

Re: shocking ignorance but......

Yeah along with a load of other garbage (unfortunately) from those who seem to think abused children are good for political satire.

Sorry you had to read all that.

Re: shocking ignorance but......

Satire is the funniest thing going these days! Republicans are making it way too easy. go watch the Daily Show from Oct 5 (I think that was the date) on www.comedycentral.com. Find the one about Bush describing his work. I almost choked on my lunch today. It was really funny.

Sorry Ttraveler but this is kind of like the Gary Hart thing when he said to the press go ahead and follow me. Well they did and they found what they were looking for. Conservatives have been telling us for years only they can protect American values. Now that one of your own has wallowed in the mud the rest of you will get a little dirty. You do it to Dems they do it to you. Do not act so suprised or incensed.
