Right now, it's so hard for Mexicans who really want to work, to enter this country. That's why we have so many illegals.
No we have so many illegals because they were shown by Reagan that all they have to do is get here lay low and then sooner or later they will be granted amnesty. First the ones already here have to go, then we can talk guest worker program. The only way to do that is to come down hard on employers. Sorry but after having gone through background checks with my employer I find your reasoning to be slightly lacking. I know there are some that will slip through, but right now the majority don't even have to try to slip through. A huge number of employers know they have illegals but di not care because they do not think the Fed will ever get serious.

Right so say they can't be hired (the illegals that is) and theyjust keep coming here anyway as they have nothing else in Mexico?

What do they do other than turn to crime and muck up our society even more?

If they're here illegally then cheap labor should stay andit has to really, what do those guys (illegals) do otherwise?

Wrong. If they are here illegally and nothing is done about it, then this country has become a joke by the hands of flat out apathy. "Where law ends, tyranny begins". Our country should not make decisions (especially not 'law bending' ones like that) that teeter on the sole existence of a possibility of short term benefits from cheap labor. There are more things to look at as far as impact on the US than numbers with regards to a flood of unskilled and poor migrant workers.

Something should be done about i agree, but until that proccess (which is very long) is completed they are still here, unless you suggest we lock them up before deporting them? If not then what do they do before their "next court appointment"? What are they gonna do other than steal andbreak other laws to survive?

Re: Pres. Bush signs HR5441: provides $1.2 billion for border fence

I say start one at a time probing the places of employment. Enforce harsh fines for such employer behavior across the board. Sooner or later, many employers will do the firing themselves rather than be fined a hefty amount. Soon enough it would logically follow that potential illegals see that -- well, the US isn't giving it out anymore. Many will leave in droves, more that would have come won't even bother. Simple employment enforcement will solve most of this problem. No new laws need to be passed, no fence needs to be made necessarily -- just enforce the laws. We haven't even tried that yet, yet Bush glibly proclaims that they're here and there's nothing we can do about it. Riiight

This took decades to cause, it will take some time to fix. There is no reason for more laws, more this, more that. Just do what we are supposed to do.

While he may or may not be racist, having an anti-illegal sentiment doesn't make one racist. That fact that people like you use this as well as most democrats is because both you and dems cannot come up with one logical argument supporting illegal immigration. So, the cry of "racist" is thrown out in hoping that the shame of PC will make them stop.

And if I remember correctly, there was quite a large percentage of Latinos in favor of prop 187. Even more so for blacks and asians. And as far as I'm concerned, this means most people (not just whites) are against illegal immigration.

They come here for economic reasons. take that away and there is no reason for them to stay here. They will either go home or continue on north to Canada.

God bless overreations! They are a right entitled to all internet users, and more people should take advantage of such opportunities to overreact. I'm sure that conformfailure if of the Ted Stevens boat and actually believes that the internet is a series of tubes, and that we can all look at him through these tubes and realize that he's actually a chicano.

I often wonder how hard our neighbors to the north must be laughing at us. Such a simple way to get this ball rolling, yet our leadership remains so incompetent...
