Re: Muslims' anger as London Olympics clash with Ramadan

Does the Muslim/Islamist know how to negotiate? If they do they need to get with the Olympic Counsel and try to change the date, if they attempt to threaten "Screw Them". If a quarter of the athletes is indeed practicing Muslims then I would think the OC would consider a change of dates by a week or so.

Re: Muslims' anger as London Olympics clash with Ramadan

I agree with the latter two posters.

This article is a bit misleading. It says there is "outrage" and "anger," but then does nothing to demonstrate those supposed feelings held by Muslims. Indeed, it just talks about a (IMO reasonable) request aimed at a multicultural and international event, a request that simply wants the practices of a large portion of the participators to be respected. What is wrong with that? It seems that IIIX is right in saying that many people just completely reject any religious request, especially when it comes to Muslims.

Why don't muslims ever bend for others. I mean look, if the pope says something they murder a nun, but if they say something you better take it and like it, or they'll threaten you. I would have no problem with looking at a different date if they would practice greater tolerance.

Islam is a religion of peace and explosions.

Or maybe if they're true muslims and believe in Islam they should not part take in the Olympics at all and put their religion first...or run on an empty stomach. Otherwise i think Allah will be very angry.

It reminds me of the Christian complainers at Christmas time, complaining about whatever it is they complain about every year.

I do believe that a religious holiday and the Olympics are too different things.

With the amount of muslims involved within the Olympics, I am surprised that the officials were not aware of the timing.

So, once again, everybody should drop what they're doing to appease the Muslims? Don't want any more beheadings or airplanes running into buildings now do we?

have muslims suggested anything of the sort reguarding the olympics or are you just hoping they will make those threats to suit your idea of muslims?

No, I am not saying that at all.
I was just stating that I can't believe the officials were not aware of the problem....I say screw it and keep the dates, I am tired of "the world must bow to muslim" crap.

Actions speak in volume, and they have shown they will look for any reason to be offended, just so they can wage "jihad".

I think Blaupunkt69 addressed this well enough (a remark you failed to respond to, btw).

Still, I'm curious about the assumptions you've made here. You imply that everyone has dropped "what they're doing to appease the Muslims" multiple times in the past - could you give some examples of this? And where in this case of the Olympics has anyone expressed anger or threatened to commit murder?

I really don't see any correlation. Christmas comes the same day every year and is a recognized National Holiday. The date has been December 25th for a really, really long time. I've never heard Christians, or anyone else for that matter, complain about the date of Christmas.

Do we hear any complaints from any other culture or religion? No.

It's really not a good idea to invite foreigners into your country that are determined to change your country. Therefore, I hope the United States has learned from Europe. Politically correct, no, but safe, yes.
As a European that lives amongst Muslims and even has one in my family (Lebanese Palestinian) I can assure you that we're quite fine with them. Thank you.
It seems to me that it is the extreme right both in Europe and the USA that wants the muslims to be a problem. And as they are not, the extreme right seems more than willing to lend a hand to make it a problem, through word AND deed.
And before you ask, no, I will not amalgamate the millions of peaceful European muslims with a few thousand nutjobs any more than I would amalgamate the 450 million Europeans with the few tens of thousand fascists it regrettably harbours or than I would amalgamate the 300 million Americans with the [fill in with your favourite domestic group you hate]
