Are you saying that Republicans are too pathetic to pass reform legislation, even when they control the majority in both houses of Congress and the presidency?

So Democrats in the last Congress worked longer than 103 days too? Ted Kennedy? Hillary Clinton? If not, you're blowing hot air .. again.

Re: Democrats cut Billions in Pork

Reagan vetoed a Highway bill that had 451 earmarks, claiming it was just too pork laden.
Bush signed a highway bill this year with over 6000 earmarks.

Yes I did vote for him just as I said I woiuld in other threads here. Not that I particularly like him. He's waaay to the left of me.

The thing is, DeWine had to go. He was voting against our best interests. (eg. Alito, Patriot act) Sometimes people just deserve to be fired no matter what and you have to take your chances with a new guy.

And though I don't know him well personally, I do know many of the people he rubs elbows with such as Tom Noe and and that whole crowd and they were all doing shit I seriously don't approve of but I'm not going to make any specific accusations because I can't prove it.
Also, I kind of like the idea of legislative gridlock. We don't need more laws, we need less. Hopefully Bush's rubber stamp will be nothing but Barney's new chew toy for the next couple years...

Re: Democrats cut Billions in Pork

The Democrats are playing for the long run here, no rip and run, so they won't be piling on the pork, until the GOP is in the coffin, with the stake through it's heart.
That means doing the right thing for the next two years, because in 2008 the Party of the People will hold the high ground, they already have a larger majority in the House than the GOP ever had during the Republican Hegemony. In 2008 there are 22 GOP Senate seats in play, with 10 expected to be open, on the other side the Democrats will only be defending 11 Senate seats, and only 4 of those will be open, so if they can keep the momentum going they can get a death grip on the Senate, and the White House.
Then they can play around, and dish out some bacon, but until then, they have to hold the line, if they do that, the GOP majority hasn't been born yet.

So what you just said is that they should do the right thing and be fiscally responsible for the next two years, which you think will ensure a larger majority for them in 2008, and once they obtain that it will then be okay for them to tell the voters to fuck off and can go back to putting us in even more debt than the Republicans did. Nice.

As I have said before, you are the problem in this country. You aren't the solution.

I don't see where Goober stated that he agreed with the tactics he believes the Dems will employ: he merely gave his opinion as to how he sees the next 2 years unfolding.
Like it or not, it will result in a winning strategy.

Perhaps he meant that when the congressmen-elect take office the republicans will not control congress.

Perhaps, except that there's a huge difference between won't and don't. Dogsbody said Republicans "DON'T" control Congress.

Re: Democrats cut Billions in Pork

Congress is out of session. So the point is moot for now.

horsesh*t...that's what you're shoveling. You are aware that traditionally mid-term elections don't favor the incumbents party don't you? Of course not; to know that and what it says would completely derail you're wet dreams of a resurgent Democrat party, which as we've seen this week hold a very tenuous control.
