I was opposed to the Iraq invasion because I felt there were bigger threats than Saddam out there that we should have been preparing for, ie. North Korea and Iran.

However, what you suggest is just a figment from the overactive imaginations of the paranoid and stupid.

When you and your conspiracy wingnuts can prove that this war was started for the reasons you say then I'll be on your side. But since you can't because it wasn't, all you are doing is cutting down the honor and reputation of our country and demoralizing the service of our military and their families.

Well said, but in regards to Iran and NK, is it possible that we only think its important because thats what the media thinks now? ie. I could easily see where instead of Iraq, we attacked Iran, Iran turned out like Iraq, and the media would be saying that Iran was a mistake and we should have gone to Iraq. See what I mean? We are being led by mob mentality instead of informed logic.

I have a problem with nitwits propagating the lie that this war had anything to do with "big oil". There is absolutely no evidence to support this absurd allegation. Anyone who parrots this nonsense clearly illustrates how little they care for this country and the job our men/women in uniform are doing. And then these fools claim that they support the troops

Exxon Execs just keep getting raises. Don't they understand that wage increases create inflation?

Try telling that to some people on here. I believe you though.

Read the thread. Can't get this image out of my head.

"Democrats cut billions in pork. Yeah, that's the ticket."

The main argument I keep hearing about raising minimum wage is that it creates inflation. I guess as long as rich people get wage increases, inflation will be low. Since the only people who have been getting significant increases in their wealth have been the very rich, I can only follow the clues and say that the rich are causing inflation.

'Zactly. The wealthy and large business owners WANT you to believe that raising wages will cause inflation. The truth is, that if corporations sacrafice a very miniscule profit for higer wages, people would SPEND more and the market would boom. There would BE no need to increase prices. It would even out in the end. In Massachusetts recently, housing prices have been plummeting because people simply cannot afford the excessive prices here. The real estate market is suffering, due to inflation, caused by the rich who control the market by buying overpriced real estate. Inflation comes from the rich who take over the market; not a raise in wages.

Re: Democrats cut Billions in Pork

The US government does, unfortunately, collect too many taxes. How do I know this? Because it can afford to be belligerent, incompetent and careless at the same time (see: Iraq War). Many US citizens can't afford the taxes, though. IMO both the reps and dems need to be removed from office permanently. At least the ones that have been common in the last few years (the needlessly aggressive/incompetent reps and the welfare, big government idiot dems, which isn't to say that the recent reps haven't been supportive of huge, overpowering government). If they stop this useless spending (and often hurtful spending), it can be really easy for them to lower taxes and still have a huge surplus.

I agree, but welfare isn't useless spending.

It discourages people from working by rewarding laziness. So it could fall into "hurtful" spending.

What the citizens can't afford is taxes that go to paying others debt off.......Watch TV and read spam email, what do you see ? Nothing but ads saying get free money, credit card debt and many more……The problems is that OUR taxes go to pay for these things..
I’m sure that everyone here knows of at least one person who is a repeat credit card abuser, repeat bankruptcy abuser and etc……All of which gets paid down by the government “by” our tax dollars.

What is even more hurtful is what would happen to the economy if we cut out welfare. Poverty hurts the economy and also creates disease and more problems than you'll want to think about - why do you think the government has welfare to begin with? Back in days, it was supposed to be created as a temporary safety net, however welfare only lasts 5 years and in most cases you must have a job to collect if you are to re-apply.
