Excercise in reality: summate number of Native American extract servicepeople and subtract from total service populus. What remains is immigrant servicemen and women in the US Armed forces. As some people have already alluded to, the semantics revolve around the legality of their status. I personally suggest that this is better approached when it can be assured that they manage to return back to this country on the second occassion, rather than arrive on the first.

Re: A U.S. military 'at its breaking point' considers foreign recruits
I am sorry. My grammar, syntax and spelling is atrocoious. It' simple really. The USA has a reputation of being built almost exclusively upon an immigrant population. As this is still propounded today, it would be wrong to say that the US Armed forces was recruiting outside its borders (if this is true), for it has no borders - other than physical ones.
The point is, for a nation built in its entirety not upon hereditary influences, but upon an ethos, it really is no import that recruits to serve in the US military come from outside, especially when there has never been an inside. If it is still required to address whethere these lucky volunteers have a permanent future in the US, would it not be more appropriate to let them serve and see if they come back alive first?
