Re: US strikes suspected AlQueda targets in Somalia

Why Somalia and not Darfur?

Oh silly me.

"That land, in the opinion of geologists and industry sources, could yield significant amounts of oil and natural gas if the U.S.-led military mission can restore peace to the impoverished East African nation."

Oil in Somalia?

While I am not opposed to this, it is all about revenge for you Rak? It seems to me revenge is not an adequate reason, and I doubt the reason the action was taken.

not singling you out hairball. just using it as an example of uninformed, sheep-like mentality so prevalent in these posts. i pity you guys. so brainwashed by the state you'll believe anything they say and applaud anything they do. i've been reading about this "attack" and apparently those 3 guys they're looking for weren't even around. and just so you guys know, the somali's our government is so eager to support and who help us get our intel are hardly anything more than ruthless warlords. we've been throwing millions of dollars at many different warlord/rival militant groups for years hoping that whichever one of them finally gains power will be friendly to the US and its interests. its only because our government calls them allies or whatever the term is, that makes them so. its a dangerous crap shoot playing with people's lives and treating them as if they're nothing more than cannon fodder for the big bad gunships. ignorance is a much greater danger to the US than any amount of terrorists could ever be.

i know it was kind of a joke but my point was that it doesn't seem too far from reality for people to cheer USA anytime some nameless darkies are killed or bombed around the world. as long as the government says they're the bad guys it makes it okay to celebrate killing.

Re: US strikes suspected AlQueda targets in Somalia

Once again America feels justified to send in the Gunships and launch missile attacks at god knows what based on some flimsy intelligence, killing whoever gets in their way but sure who cares as long as there's a small chance of killing some of those pesky bad guys wearing those funny clothes. This is then predictably followed by cries of joy and cheering from the morons who think that the American media is feeding them some semblence of truth and they lap it up like vultures while licking their blood thirsty lips and wonder who can we slaughter next in our war of terror. When are you going to realise you are as bad as those you hate so much and you actions do nothing more then add fuel to the fire ? God help us all.

Some of the lies on this thread would be funny if I didn't think you were serious. Truthhurts speaks the truth. Something many of you will only find out when it's too late.

We did have Spectres overhead in Somalia, supporting Operation Restore Hope; one was lost on March 14th, 1994 when the 105mm cannon exploded while it was in the air. -air-attack.com

According to the Army's web site, we had 4 AC-130 gunships stationed in Somalia, and later deployed 2 more. They list only 4 missions, but I'm sure there had to be more. The Army says the downed 130 crash landed off the coast of Kenya on March 15th, 1994.
