Re: Chuck Hagel (R Neb) calls condi a liar
Hagel is right, it IS a Civil War.

Re: Chuck Hagel (R Neb) calls condi a liar
Somebody posted "Hagel is a traitor". That's the kind of wrongheaded thinking I hate about America right now. "Groupthink" is what it's also called. This idea that someone ought to just blindly go with their party is ludicrous. Isn't there a moral imperative? People who think like this would be the kinds of people who would follow someone into a ditch I guess. And if President Bush jumped off a bridge, should every conservative do that too? What if Bush drove a car over the Grand Canyon for peace, should every conservative follow? Calling Chuck Hagel a traitor only makes sense if you stand up for stupidity.
I think it is one of the seminal moments of our time, that moment today when Hagel called the White House out on it's bullshit and the whole room applauded! He said exactly what needed to be said if you're the kind of person who uses reason and logic and who understands things in a fair and balanced way. Hagel is a patriot in the truest sense, putting the welfare of his nation over his measely, intolerant, shoot first and ask questions later party. |

Hagel just said what the average American already knows.

![]() I agree with what Hagel said - there is no doubt that there is a civil war in Iraq either active right now or brewing imminently. To deny that is folly. Matt |

But I'm sure there are things w would like to accomplish in the remainder of his term and I'm also sure he'd like to be remembered as someone who did not destroy his party's political power. I think both of those goals are now beyond his reach.
