Sorry, I was deluded by the National Intelligence Estimate into believing that Iraq was a crushing defeat of American interests.

CBP is the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

Bush wants to cut that 13%. I think the educational value of public broadcasting is important for our democracy. We have to get our priorities in order in the USA. Sign the petition to stop this budget cut.
SAM,May I suggest you spell out these names? PBS is easily understood, but others like NPR, are not. Thus people can get confused about who you are referring to. ( that also alleviates the problem with Typos)

How does a statement of fact "sound happy"?

My political agenda? Oh, you mean dealing with reality, that's an agenda now.

What is your agenda? The steely eyed denial of reality in favor of a more palatable mythology?

I'm not "happy" to be right about Iraq, any more than a doctor is "happy" to be right about a cancer diagnosis. But I'm not going to say "it's just a cold" to keep the patient happy.....

Why not ?

What ? Aren't they catching enough peoples attention to actually be competetive ?

Why do the rest of us have to be forced to pay taxes for groups that support "samantha think" ?

A huge percentage of your taxes is paying for our troops to get their limbs blown off in a losing battle and based on lies. You don't want a tiny percentage to go to news and sesame street?

Thanks for the compliment NPR is for the educated and thoughtful.

I am a regular contributer to the local NPR station and I urge others to do the same. It is the only radio station that doesn't play country, pop, or talk radio.

Government sponsored Air AMerica.

Let them stand on their own or go off the air.

NPR is not.

The difference is not in quality of programming, nor has it anything whatsoever to do with popularity of it's shows - it is simply because it is no different than commercial enterprises good or bad. To obtain public funding, I believe an organization must have an inherent and unique value to the public that cannot be commercially duplicated.
In my opinion - it is unlawful to continue to give money to NPR.

How so? Show me why you think so. Give me examples where you think they took the "left" slant on a story or issue, and I can show you another one where they gave the "right" side in another. Apparently those that are panning NPR don't actually listen to any of their programs. What's up with that?
NPR may not absolutely unbiased, but it is the closest thing as it gets in the US to media that looks at both sides of issues.

I don't get why NPR needs public funding in the first place. If they were to just play classical music and stay away from politics it'd be a great station.

Re: NPR and PBS facing more budget cuts, don't let it happen~!

The reason why PBS doesn't get all the funding they need is because they don't have commercials in the middle of a show. The advertisments are before and after a show. That's a huge deterrant for corporate America.

I've never actually listened to NPR so I don't know what to say about them.
