Fairness Doctrine
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search

The Fairness Doctrine was a regulation of the United States' Federal Communications Commission which required broadcast licensees to present controversial issues of public importance, and to present such issues in what was deemed an honest, equal and balanced manner. It has since been repealed by the FCC and aspects of it have been questioned by courts."

So, we all have a clue of what we speak.

And I'm sure you know the why and how of Moyer's troubles with Tomlinson (assigned by Rove/Bush to silence him, fyi).
heh heh yep Don't forget the Secret Service too. They have a hand in decisive politics more than you would even want to know.

One only needs look at the roots of the Secret Service to understand why that is, Ms. Maiden.

Maybe you are tone deaf.

Education is much better in the state of Texas for example than it is in California.

Texas students get all new texts every other year.

PBS and NPR could find their funding elsewhere. The fact is that, NPR especially, is leftist. Why would Bush or any moderate to conservative Republican support that tripe?

I think that the Republicans and Bush want to use the elderly for target practice.

Really? When was the press considered an agency for the good?

And what does forcing the views of liberals on the shows of conservatives have to do with journalistic integrity?

Was the press a force for good when they faked documents and relied on a crazy man with a vendetta to impeach Bush's national guard service?

Not so much "rejects" as "doesn't want to pay for", and that slide started years, if not decades, ago.

NPR and PBS do have some good programming, but also tend to lean left. I personally think they should both be defunded, tho I have no problem with that being a phase-out rather than cold turkey.

For those that have mixed feelings like me, I recommend you support funding cuts, then send a donation to your local station(s) along with a note that you're more concerned about their leftward leanings than their loss of government funding. 2 or 3 annual donations, then nothing more if they're not the objective, or at least balanced, outlets they should be.

Well if you have a book on it then it must be true.

I have a book here called Mein Kampf so it must be true.

I have read a book called the Turner Diaries so that must be true.

I read a book called the Protocols of the Elders of Zion so that must be true.

I read, for example, in a BOOK, Freakanomics that abortion helped to cut crime in the US and the author compared that to commie Romania's banning of abortion and subsequent rise in crime in that country so that must be true also.

I read a book by the C student algore about the world in the balance and that must be true too.

Ever hear of 'Yellow Journalism'? The 'Robber Barons'?

How about the Spanish American War?

Find the nexus of those three, then read about the FCC, and it's intent to ensure that radio stations did not become the equivalent of a newspapers Editorial Page.

What are you talking about?

what does a dead guy who formed the first detective agency have to do with NPR and PBS?

Re: NPR and PBS facing more budget cuts, don't let it happen~!

Secret Service, FenianForever.

My reply was to Ms. Ironmaiden27.

But his original reason behind the mission of the Secret Service does mesh well with today's fascism, so incompatable with the truth.

Hence, NPR and PBS's problems.

And what of Moyers?

What can we learn from his experiences?

And you probably read your own articles and news which enhance your pre-determined thoughts. Everyone has selective listening. It's the most basic concept in philosophy.
