Re: John Edwards' plan for Health Insurance

Those without health coverage arrived there due to thier own laziness or stupidity. Why should we be punished for our dilegence and be forced to care for these inferiors?

If you are without coverage, stop being so lazy and get a better job that includes heathcare.

I would agree with that sentiment, if we had a zero percent unemployment rate.

Under the Edwards Plan:
  • Families without insurance will get coverage at an affordable price.
  • Families with insurance will pay less and get more security and choices.
  • Businesses and other employers will find it cheaper and easier to insure their workers.

The Edwards Plan achieves universal coverage by:

  • Requiring businesses and other employers to either cover their employees or help finance their health insurance.
  • Making insurance affordable by creating new tax credits, expanding Medicaid and SCHIP, reforming insurance laws, and taking innovative steps to contain health care costs.
  • Creating regional "Health Markets" to let every American share the bargaining power to purchase an affordable, high-quality health plan, increase choices among insurance plans, and cut costs for businesses offering insurance.
  • Once these steps have been taken, requiring all American residents to get insurance.
  • Securing universal healthcare for every American will require the active involvement of millions of Americans.

John Edwards for President
Sorry but it has to be shown to be more comprehensive than this shows for me to support it. The Key in this plan to true universal health care (especially for the poor) is apparently Tax Credits which I totally oppose for ANY Purpose. they are welfare, and should be classed as welfare and nothing else.

Besides throwing money to people to pay for it is not the way.

(because they will use it for something else..The only way, is to PROVIDE THE SERVICES not the money to PAY for the services.)

If you didn't vote for Bush, I apologize. If you did, why not take some responsibility?

I'm a member of the "Clinton Crowd". You can blame me for an embarassing sex scandal and the most productive period in American history. Remember the "surplus"? You don't hear much about that anymore. (Cue excuses for bad results.)

Re: John Edwards' plan for Health Insurance

I have to agree with Matt. He is one of the reasons healthcare costs are so high. I don't know where most liberals stand on this, but I for one think we should severly limit the amount and number of malpractice cases in the US. Doctors are human and will make mistakes. So for that one mistake we are punishing millions of people by driving up health insurance costs and driving up healthcare costs in general. I'm not saying doctors should not be held accountable.....but they work in a high risk field and in all kinds of healthcare there is a risk of mistakes. We can dream of everyone having healthcare, but until people are willing to accept the realities of helathcare it will remain a dream.

We should be addressing the cost of healthcare before we can even think of providing everyone with healthcare. I'm not talking about tax credits either...I'm talking bottom line cost.

Edwards sued the crap (millions of dollars) out of many doctors in N.C. In fact, he damaged a particular medical field so much that it was almost gone by the time he was done with it. Now with his millions, he's built a freaking mansion worth over 4 million dollars complete with no-trespassing signs on his property.

The pretty breck boy is nothing more than a slimy turd lawyer.

And does anybody see whats been happening with lawyers, democrats, and doctors? Dems generally have written laws that have made it easier for lawyers to sue doctors. Lawyers are one of the democrats biggest contributers. (RICO?) Healthcare gets much more expensive so dems have to come in and implement tiny steps towards a full socialized heathcare plan.

Useful idiots gush over the breck boy's heathcare solution.

That's hillarious, Goober. Really. Excellent comedy.

The jury finds for whoever puts on the better show in these cases.

Take a CP case. If the plaintiff has a charismatic, ethically bankrupt lawyer who can put on a good show of claiming to channel the (not dead) child, the jury returns a sympathy verdict.

Throughout the country, there are attorneys who capitalize on the scientifically flawed position that every birth defect is caused by a doctor who must then pay millions.

Oh, yeah, and the lawyer gets half (typically 40% plus costs).

For every one of those, there are probably 20 OB/GYNs who have never even been accused of malpractice paying six figure premiums.

If they don't leave the specialty, that is.

Every time you hear about how some poor malpractice victim was awarded millions, just remember - the lawyer walked off with half (or more). And then next time you pay your health insurance premium, understand that the costs you pay are directly related to the costs of these suits on the medical industry as a whole.

Matt
Really, your absolute lack of faith in the American court system is showing.
Have you got a better plan for determining what happened than a trial?

What should happen to a doctor who leaves a patient in the delivery room unattended for an hour to grab a sandwich, causing the baby to suffer irreparable brain damage?
