A rough example might be if I want an Interstate built across Missouri, do I consult Joe and Barneys Paving contractors specializing in driveways, or should I look to Morrison Knudsen or Peter Kiewitt & Son's?

Get the best, get the largest that can handle all phases including providing sub-contractors and logistics!

No what it does is make those of us in the middle basically ignore the arguments of both of you. While I can only speak for myself, I think most of us at some point decide we have had enough of wading through the bullshit to get to the little pearls inside the bullshit and just ignore it all. So if you mean your points are both ignored when you say it is evened out then you may have a point.

You don't seem like you are in the middle at all because you aren't ignoring. There is always selfish motive behind everything - especially in government. This is why people are so critical of our government and why I don't vote. There are too many conflicting stories, so many of us become tired of hearing both sides that we become critical of everything. You can blame that on the contunious degradation of trust we have on our leaders.

Actually I am in the middle. I tend to read the crap comming from both extremes but pay no real attention to it. I listen to both Liberal and Conservative talk radio because, well you have to know how the enemy thinks to defeat them. Extremism is the enemy.
