A Double Standard by the FCC and CBS

Last night at the grammys a lot of artist used obsenity and racist words and the FCC wouldnt Fine CBS.But Oh yeah but when Howard Stern says something obscene, sexest or racist on the air OH Yeah the FCC will fine him!!! But they wont fine CBS for went on at the grammys? The FCC is very Liberal. When obscene, sexest or racist comes out of Hollywoods mouth the FCC turns to other cheek and look away. But when a Conservitive like Howard Stern does it Oh yeah FCC will slap him with a heavy fine.Go figure!

FCC is run by Republican apointees, in league with a few corporate holdovers from Clinton's tenure.

Re: A Double Standard by the FCC and CBS

Then why CBS didnt pay a huge fine when Janet Jackson showed her bare breast at the superbowl? When didnt CBS Pay a Huge fine for last night grammy awards? But when Howard Stern mentions about private body parts on the air FCC slap him with a fine at least $10,000.And the NFL had to fine Randy Moss with his mooned TD act because if they didnt then FCC would fined the NFL.Its a Double Standard to me.

That bare boob thing was laughable.

It should all be seen in the context of 'stuff designed to (hopefully) distract americans from an illegal war and looming bankruptcy.

That's because content of a sexual nature (except for educational purposes) is deemed to be the most offensive. If the Grammy's artists had talked about sex in the same graphic way that Howard Stern does, they'd be fined just as heavily as Stern.

When it comes to the FCC, the key element to remember is that sex is the ultimate no-no. But sexest or sexy does not equals to sex. TV can show bikini babes because they're sexy, but they're not having sex or describing the act of sex. Stern, however, often goes into very detailed descriptions of sex.

Re: A Double Standard by the FCC and CBS

Remember Elvis Pressley grabbed his balls on the Ed Sullivan show back in 1956? The Camera man kept it right above his pants. If The Camera man showed it all the way down to elvis knees and everyone saw him grabbed his balls i gurantee you the Ed Sullivan show would been pulled off the air the by the FCC next day.The Rules were very strict back in the 50s. You cant Yell at Kids on the air.You cant Slap or hit kids on the air. And you cant use any profanity on the air back then nether. You cant even say the word Sex Or say the word pregnant on the air nether. But now its all about between liberalism and conservitive.Like when Rush Limbaugh Talks about Black QBs on ESPN they make him resign. But when Pam Oliver on FOX talks about white guys infront of Minnesota Vikings players on an interview FOX wont fire her. But when Jimmy The Greek used the -N- Word on CBS they fired him! See the Double Standard here?

Yep, it sure DOES figure. Howard Stern makes it an intragal Part of his show. not an occasional remark. And for that reason, I would long since have permanently Banned him

Are you ever misinformed! The cameraman was instructed to keep the camera above Elvis' waist not because he grabbed his testicles but because of the gyrations of his hips in any given performance. He kept it so clean though that Ed Sullivan was thrilled and called him a real decent boy. Do you ever get any of your facts right?

Re: A Double Standard by the FCC and CBS

Then why the Girls were screaming in that pause? There was a guy even said he saw elvis grabbed his testicles caused the girls to scream.Thats why the camera man was lucky enough to keep it above his waist.FCC were very tough back in those days. Even Lucy Ball knew what was the penalty if one foul word slipped out of her mouth.Remember TV shows were live back in those days.Even the Honeymooners were live.

Because they weren't Elvis.

Steve, is there anything or anyone you actually like, or has the insanity finally ripped to shreds every portion of your brain which would otherwise process reasonable, sane thought?
