Do you not still talk about Kennedy, Lincoln, Nixon..... Come on, relax, live a little, have some fun. But I bet you'll say something about George W. Bush after Jan 20th 2009. LOL

Re: Al Gore bypasses airport security

I don't understand what all the fuss is about here to be honest...even if Gore didn't get screened he wasn't just the loser of the 2000 Presiential electionl he was also the former President of the US for god's sake. He isn't gonna hijack a plane, he isn't gonna let off a bomb in the airport and actually contrary to popular belief any former member of the executive branch (Pres or VP) does have the right to waive certain security procedures aimed at cvillian populations. Do you think when Clitnon and Bush Senior fly around the world they go through security checks at airports? Do you think that when foreign dignatories come to the country they go through all this? Don't forget who it is who write these laws...

Not really often. As long as I have been on this site I don't think I have actually started a thread about any of them unless it was a historical thread rather than just picking on them as people rather than their policies. While I actually agree when it comes to him practicing what he preaches regarding the environment I don't feel it's worth more than maybe one post in one of those threads and beyond that I just do not really care. If he makes a run I might be more interested.

Its nothing to do with elitism, its executive privellage. Look i can't stand the man but i see absolutely no reason not to let the guy walk through without going through a security screening. He sill has Secret service protection and rightly so, he was Vice President of the US for 8 years dammit! If he was okay to be second in command to the President of the United States i think its fair to say his security credentials have already been assertained.

I'd say there is a very good reason to if he still has a secret service escort. I know presidents keep the protection, I'm not sure about VPs.

But if a man has two armed guys who are going to be waived through the checkpoint with their firearms seems kinda pointless to screen the guy they're with. Ex-Presidents don't go through security checkpoints, Ex-VPs not doing so either isn't exactly worrying.
