Or, as he's probably going to respond, "Gonzales, no hableas corpañol, señores."

What a snarky twit.

You REALLY need to find out what the bloody blue blazes you're talking about; you come across as utterly non compos mentis, citizen.

If you're going to KEEP bringing up rightwad lies that have already been frequently and rigorously debunked, you're going to convince all the nice lurkers that not only have you not been paying attention, but that you also suffer from perishing stupidity. Pay attention: "Current Situation is Distinct From Clinton Firings." Now, if you're actually literate and schooled above a sixth grade level, that link should tell you how full of parrot droppings you really are. If, as I suspect, you need MORE convincing of your crippling inadequacy, you need to read "Former Clinton Chief Of Staff Rebuts Rove Claim That Clinton Purged Prosecutors Too." (And for the intellectually-impared, there's a video with it.)

If the "Clinton did it, too" defense is the best the radical right can come up with, then this scandal must be TRULY horrifying. Bet it stinks being you these days.

Furthermore, you quoted my link about the connection to Beelzebub Cheney's office...but did you bother to READ it??? I think not. Come back when you do. Meantime, don't bother opining about matters of which you so clearly know nothing.

Why did you even bother posting that steaming load of balderdash, huh?

He really must go, and NOW.

Did you see Shumer's face when he was asking the questions? He almost broke out in laughter. And when he was done, he and Specter looked incredulous at the testimony. Gonzales, torture/no habeas corpus/constitution destroyer needs to get the fuck out of our government.
Amen to that, Samantha...and Gonzo needs to take all the rest of the unclean Republican liars, greedweasels, thieves and perverts with him. (But, then, I guess the Democratic Super I-Team Congress will take care of that by and by...)

Re: Republicans Call For Gonzales' Resignation

As the heat on the Attorney General continues to increase, he's pleading total memory loss of things which happened barely six months ago. His former chief of staff, Kyle Sampson, at least had the grace to step down when his role in the purge of eight US prosecutors was revealed. The testimony extracted from Sampson yesterday branded his ex-boss a truthless twit in different ways...but the meaning was the same every time.

Support for the radioactive Gonzales is now lukewarm at best; Republicans like Senator Johnny Isakson of Georgia continued piling on and even the current White House spokes-liar intoned the lethal phrase "[he] has the president's full confidence." Yeah...well, so did Rummy until the axe fell.

Personally, I can't WAIT for April 17th when they sit Gonzo on the hotseat in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee and shove that Bible at him.

That's when things are going to get mighty interesting indeed.

Stripey: Let's face facts here. Perfection is for the, ahem, angels...and we're dealing with mere human beings here. Some slimy greedweasel is ALWAYS going to decide they can do better for themselves by skirting the rules than they can by following them. Covetousness--that's greed, by the way--has been designated one of the Seven Deadly Sins for quite some time now.

I will not be put into the position of defending every single act committed by every Democrat...not now, not ever.

My position is entirely different: I'm saying that the Republican ideology itself glorifies selfishness...and THAT is wrong. Their political ideology is rotten at its core and it causes them to feel justified in any sort of smarmy, corrupt behavior. You know it and I know it. What's even worse, however, is that despite having no discernible scruples or ethics or principles whatever, they insist upon portraying themselves as the "party of moral values." This is not only the height of hypocrisy, but it is an attitude that utterly undermines the functioning of democratic government. When a politician cares more about themselves than the constituents who elected them then the result approaches chaos...which we have been witness to these last six years.

Don't EVER lecture me about the wrongdoings of human beings; sombody, somewhere I seem to recall once said "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone."

Re: Republicans Call For Gonzales' Resignation

Oops!

Looks like we have ONE MORE unclean Republican to add to the rapidly growing list of those who are hollering for the head of Alberto Gonzales. Representative Lee Terry, whose district includes metropolitan Omaha, Nebraska, said "I trusted him before, but I can't now."

And just to pour some gasoline on the raging fires of speculation, the Attorney General has cancelled a speech at the National Journal's press club building scheduled fort April 16th.

Maybe we need to start calling him GONE-zales...

Re: Republicans Call For Gonzales' Resignation

NOW the real truth about this blighted administration's use of the Department of Justice as an enforcement arm for voter suppression along with other high crimes and misdemeanors is starting to emerge. Somewhere much earlier in this long thread, I suggested that we had not yet begun to scratch the surface of something much deeper and more sinister.

As usual, I was right.

An article in today's Los Angeles Times shows that the current Gonzalesgate scandal is just the tip of a very ugly iceberg indeed.

I told you so...

Re: Republicans Call For Gonzales' Resignation

from your article...

Quote:
THE SCANDAL unfolding around the firing of eight U.S. attorneys compels the conclusion that the Bush administration has rewarded loyalty over all else. A destructive pattern of partisan political actions at the Justice Department started long before this incident, however, as those of us who worked in its civil rights division can attest.

I spent more than 35 years in the department enforcing federal civil rights laws — particularly voting rights. Before leaving in 2005, I worked for attorneys general with dramatically different political philosophies — from John Mitchell to Ed Meese to Janet Reno. Regardless of the administration, the political appointees had respect for the experience and judgment of longtime civil servants.

Under the Bush administration, however, all that changed. Over the last six years, this Justice Department has ignored the advice of its staff and skewed aspects of law enforcement in ways that clearly were intended to influence the outcome of elections.

...snip
rewarded loyalty over all else... that sure seems to be their modus operandi... who cares about qualifications... certainly not george w bush... heavens no... cronyism is far more important than actually having experience or qualifications...

I wonder just how many trials our attorney general has prosecuted during his career... one would think it would have to be quite a few considering the AG is in charge of all the other federal attorneys... any idea, Angel?
anyone else? how many?

Considering bush's track record on political appointees, I'll bet AGAG hasn't prosecuted any....

any takers? I'll give odds...

and obtw, I'd never lecture an angel about morality...

Re: Republicans Call For Gonzales' Resignation

Well, it looks like John Conyers, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee isn't going to settle for Monica Goodling's blanket invocation of the Fifth Amendment to all possible questions. He's invited her up to Capitol Hill for a closed-door conference, to state specifically which questions she will not answer. You see, Goodling has some ugly history of her own which she'd rather not see aired in public...and which I'll go into in my next post.

Looks like there's a new sheriff in town; no more free rides for administration liars...

Woah, she went to Pat Robertson founded, Regent college. She's one of them

So why would a good, honest, Christian woman not want to testify before congress? Why would she have anything to hide after living a "very faithful life"?

Perhaps she thinks that we "can't handle the truth!" (Remember A Few Good Men?)

Re: Republicans Call For Gonzales' Resignation

In 1999, Orin Hatch said Clinton wasn't "decent" for invoking the privilege of confidentiality over executive communications.

"If they say no, we'll have to go to court," he told CNN on Sept. 17, 1999. "And we're going to just have to show that these people don't shoot straight, they're not honest, they're not decent and they shouldn't be in the White House.'"

Sen. Orin Hatch has defended President Bush's right to executive privilege strongly.

Speaking of Goodling, I hear she's only one of 150 Pat Robertson University graduates working for W.

And you wonder why things are so fucked up?
