Look under "distinguished graduates," last bullet-point:

Re: Republicans Call For Gonzales' Resignation
The point is, it wasn't immigration that was the reason for Carol Lam being fired. Perhaps it was because she prosecuted and convicted Republican congressman Duke Cunningham, or that she was investigating two CIA employees, or both of those reasons and there was a Bush croney waiting to take her place. Orrin Hatch and Kyle Sampson had someone they wanted to replace her with. It's not about the attorneys job performance, it's about replacing them with croney's, like Karl Rove's former aid to replace the attorney in Arkansas.

Re: Republicans Call For Gonzales' Resignation
I recall I promised some background dirt on Ms. Monica in "my next post," but I had to pause to say hello to a gentleman I'm delighted to see here.
So it's like this: What WAS this woman thinking when she issued a pre-emptive statement promising to hide behind the Fifth Amendment when a subpoena hadn't even been issued? Obviously such a move would draw unwanted attention rather than squelch it...and it most assuredly did. You see, according to Law.com, Monica's been doing administration dirty work, first under John "Cover That Statues Breasts!" Ashcroft and then as a direct aide to Gonzales. Somewhere in there, she took it into her little head that former boss and protege of Turdblossom Rove, one Timothy Griffin, needed to be inserted into a position from which he could throw monkey wrenches into Democratic campaigns in 2008. What, then, will become of dear, loyal Monica? Well, aside from Rep. John Dingell's assertion that she's "going down in flames," she's pretty much through in the legal profession, for whom even a whiff of scandal is anathema. She may land on her feet in some low-level Republican suckfish job, where her refusal to betray party secrets might stand her in good stead. Whatever happens, she's damaged goods now...

Samantha: This thread has now grown much too unweildy for me to search back over my previous posts, but I said earlier that Carol Lam had connected the Randy "Duke" Cunningham scandal DIRECTLY to the office of Beelzebub Cheney...and I'll bet you a shiny new nickel THAT'S the mistake which brought her down.
Just a little too enthusiastic about doing her job...

All of these U.S. Attorneys were loyal Republicans who received stellar reviews, but let there loyalties go just so far. They saw themselves as prosecutors first and were determined to prosecute anyone who broke the law and left a trail of evidence. That is not nearly sufficient for this administration. They want to allow crimes, by those they deem friends no matter ow much evidence piles up against them. And they want to prosecute Democrats even in situations were there is no evidence there to call for prosecution. This is as unamerican as it gets. How some partisans refuse to condemn this is beyond me. But some put party even beyond country. |

Can we see a link to prove that theory? You won't find one, she was an exemplary US attorney.
