4) Congress is not a judicial body, and in the past when they have mistaken themselves for one, guilty men have gone free because of Congress' missteps.

5) I am not suggesting that there be no investigation of the attorney general firings. As I said early on in the scandal, something is quite rotten in the way these firings were conducted.

6) I just don't want to see criminals walk free again because Congress screws up. They've done it before, and we should not let them do it again.

7) The Administration, IMHO, attempted to derail our justice system with these firings. We should not tolerate that from our government.

8) But we shouldn't let the Congress do it, either.

1) no... I'm new here remember? And no, I'm not going to research your 18,000+ posts looking for it either...
2) Shit happens when you're trying to find the truth... would you rather that no one be given immunity so that the perps can get away scott free?
3) Yes... but I'm willing to give Goodling immunity to get the goods on gonzales, rove, miers... how about you?
4) who? link...
5) link...
6) who? link...
7) we agree...
8) IOW, you'd rather that congress just not investigate... right?

Those that think watching the last two administrations screw things up like they have is "fun" need to lighten up and get out more, IMHO.

well, he IS a mod... but I doubt that he'd do anything that underpawed... there are sites that we both know of where that might take place, but hopefully, this isn't one of them...

whew... go away for a couple of days and it takes forever to catch up...

House panel subpoenas former Gonzales deputy
By Jeremy Jacobs
May 01, 2007

The House Judiciary Committee Tuesday issued a subpoena to former Deputy Attorney General James Comey, taking another step in its investigation of the firing of eight U.S. attorneys.

Comey served under Attorney General Alberto Gonzales when discussions between the Department of Justice and White House concerning the removal of the eight U.S. attorneys occurred.

After the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Commercial and Administrative Law (CAL) voted to authorize the subpoena, House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.) issued it, saying he believes Comey’s testimony “will help the Committee piece together some of the missing parts of this puzzle.”

Comey was previously informed of the impending subpoena and has agreed to testify before the CAL subcommittee on May 3.
May 3rd? I bet it won't be televised...

A simple matter of determining ownership displays affiliations and policy. Ironic in the sense that most southern democrats transformed into new republicans long for the 'good old days', which included individual and family controlled ownership of most media complete with no holds barred investigative reporting. Advertising revenue based on public acceptance of government policy is now the sole policy of corporate media. To even mention that circumstance reeks of fascism brings a response of liberal media by uninformed citizens.

You are entitled to your opinion, of course.

I just wanted to be extra clear about what is at stake here and the enormity of this man's crimes...and no, I'm NOT talking about the attorney purge. That's just the incident by which his career might be ended; it is significant only in that context. And, yes, I'm going to enjoy every every minute of his public humiliation and eventual downfall. His is not the scheming, calculating evil of a Beelzebub Cheney. Rather, it is the witless, unthinking evil that causes men to do the will of villains, to attempt to please them. He is beneath contempt. His punishment ought to be orders of magnitude beyond what it will finally come down to...yet, such as it is, I intend to celebrate it fully.

If you would not describe it as "fun," then that's what you should have said instead of calling it "ghoulish" and "too extreme." Anyone who could denigrate the Geneva conventions, WHICH WE SIGNED as "quaint," and that is exactly what he did, deserves every bit of what's coming to him and more besides. THAT'S extreme, doniston. THAT'S ghoulish.

I may be facetious and even deliberately jokey in here at times...but I am passionate about how I feel and how I express it. I stand behind every single word.

You're right, Big Cat.

I only said "perhaps."

And I only considered it for a moment because that maggot needs to know just exactly what kind of barbarism he's being so blithe and casual about...

Purely for your own entertainment, back up to post #608...and then look at the little notation at the bottom of my post #611.

If that's not spite, what is it?

The revelation of this order by Murray Waas of the National Review, hints at a number of things:
  • The purge of eight US attorneys was the beginning of a MUCH broader installation of radical rightwing party loyalists.
  • The reason for Monica's extreme reaction of a blanket Fifth Amendment plea.
  • A partial explanation for Gonzo's spate of memory lapses during his testimony.
  • An extensive end-run around Senate confirmation for partisan purposes.
  • Planned White House intervention while leaving NO Rove fingerprints.

Gonzo's return to Capitol Hill just got TWICE as interesting! Who knows what else might emerge before then..?

I really miss the large font. My eyesight ain't what it used to be. (referring to post 659)
