Those of us who are pissed off at the lies aren't enjoying it as much as those of you who are OK with being lied to, I suppose.

OK, so this guy claims she wasn't being held. And yet:

Interesting. This is allegedly a "stage show", and yet BAC's quoted source claims to have been in mortal danger trying to help her "escape".

If you're not being held, how do you "escape"? If there is no threat, how is this chap in such danger that he could "lose [his] life"?

Not so much "fun" as shock at the revelations Rak, but strangely enough, not surprise. The military (in my country as much as anyone else's) is owned by the politicians. While they're in power they can play with it pretty much as they choose. And if they've been found abusing it, lying about what is taking place (without good strategic or tactical cause), covering up, obfuscating, deceiving then they - the politicians and the military responsible - deserve a damn good kicking.

Just watched a BBC news report on the telly, Matt. They showed Jessica Lynch testifying that the rescue as was portrayed to the American Public was a lie. I don't recall anyone saying that she hadn't been captured. I saw the look on her face as she said it and watched her lips move. Who here will dare to call Jessica Lynch a liar?

I remember in previous threads re: Lt. Watada, both you and Steve claimed that anyone in the military who disobeys a legal order from his COs is a "coward" and "scum."

Well, Spc. Bryan O'Neal was given a legal direct order to not disclose the actual details of Tillman's death.

And he disobeyed it. He told Tillman's family anyway.

So, now, according to you, rakka, Spc. O'Neal is a coward, right?

I was actually pleasantly shocked at seeing the truth unfold on CNN today. FINALLY some news that matters. Its time to get to the bottom whatever this administration and pentagon have been up to for the past four years. I want to see some heads rolling.

You shouldn't hate him. He thought he was going to fight the Taliban in Afghanistan. Then, he got shipped to Iraq instead. By the time he finally got to Afghanistan he was quite jaded, but as you know, you just can't up & quit the Army just because you disagree with your deployment.

So he did the honorable thing, and soldiered on, knowing damn good & well that W.'s administration was a farce. I think he just learned his lesson too late. That is the true travesty; a bunch of patriotic men & women signed up for one war in Afghanistan & instead got deceived & sent to protect oil wells in Iraq to enrich W.'s buddies. . .

If that's what he believed, it was still a senseless move. It only makes sense to fight a war that's winnable. The Taliban can't be routed by a conventional military; the Soviets tried that for 10 years and failed. Didn't Tillman know recent history?

He shouldn't have joined in the first place.

And in case you don't remember, the nation was sort of in a fever-pitch on September 12, 2001. I think it's a bit unfair & harsh to be too critical on Tillman for feeling compassion for the 3,000 plus who died on 9/11 & wanting to exact some revenge & shut down the al-Qaeda training camps in Afghanistan.

How was Tillman to know that Rumsfeld would be THIS incompetent. I mean, I'm as harsh on Don as anyone, but really, who could have known he'd have his head THAT far up his ass!?!?

fyi, many of those NFL players help out in the United Way, donate some of their millions to charity, etc., i. e. serve their country, while Tillman did not serve his country in the Middle East.

(he thought he was; later, of course, he discovered he was only serving corrupt pols)

Amazing how you skipped right past the Hollywood stage show looking for a way to exonerate the obvious undeniable deception. Where did the doctor, who Lynch credits for saving her life, say that she wasn't being held? He said there were no soldiers there .. and is it news to you that if the doctor was caught turning over Lynch that he would be killed by the Iraqis?
