Bloomberg Has $1 Billion for Third Party Campaign

Quote:
New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg is prepared to spend an unprecedented $1 billion of his own $5.5 billion personal fortune for a third-party presidential campaign, personal friends of the mayor tell The Washington Times.

"He has set aside $1 billion to go for it," confided a long-time business adviser to the Republican mayor. "The thinking about where it will come from and do we have it is over, and the answer is yes, we can do it."

Another personal friend and fellow Republican said in recent days that Mr. Bloomberg, who is a social liberal and fiscal conservative, has "lowered the bar" and upped the ante for a final decision on making a run.

What an interesting race it would be if Bloomberg entered providing a credible third party challenge. Anyone wonder how his candidacy would effect the race? Would he hurt the Dems more or the GOP more?

Given his stance on the 2nd amendment - and his frankly criminal conduct in furtherance of it - there is no chance I would ever vote for the guy.

With individual state voter legislation effectively blocking any third party challenge, I wonder what his end motive happens to be?

I fear it might split the liberal vote. First of all, isn't he gay? If he's gay and is pro-gun control you won't see him getting any conservative votes. I'll have to look into this further. Could be interesting though.
