A general consensus on the lack of intellectual pizazz of GWB (and the lone voice of creepy, slavish, hero-worship dissent) notwithstanding, what exactly does GWB's sluggish academic performance in college say about his ability to rebuild Iraq, or, more importantly that of his administration.

Even assuming that GWB tips the scales just north of retarded, I'd imagine that, for a man in his position of administration, it is more important to understand which advice to take than it is to come up with brilliant strategy (which doesn't necessarily require intellect or good marks in college). Bush is not a military man, so I see no reason to expect him to concoct military solutions.

Further complicating matters is the task of rebuilding Iraq in the face of a growing civil war. We might hit a tipping point where even the best and boldest strategy available cannot prevent a protracted Sunni-Shi'ite conflict. And, while Bush's invasion and subsequent plan certainly left a great deal to be desired, harping on that fact now isn't especially constructive.

Do his grades/intelligence level provide anything other than entertaining fodder to bash him? If he were a MENSA member and a frequent Dean's List achiever, would the situation in Iraq look any better?

p.s. My father fought in Korea, my grandfather was in WW2, my brother was a marine before Clinton destroyed the military; not to mention I grew up less than a mile from the corpus christi base playing basketball with every military personnel that passed through that gym. Even passed the airforce ots test and planned on joining before I seriously looked at the pay scale.
