Re: US Bombs Iran (with sanctions)!

If I'm Iran, I'm going to get myself a nuke as fast as I can. America comes off as really stupid because of the news today. I'm sick of being on the stupid side, aren't you? It's fool me twice time, folks. Where are the good leaders?

So the U.S. sanctions two countries.

We also contribute 35% of all the international foreign financial aid in the world while providing other nations with security, and much of their capital investment and export income.

That's not to count the tens of billions of dollars in "unofficial" aid, earned by illegal immigrants, that cross our southern border every year via Western Union, private charitable contributions, volunteer work, or emergency aid.

I know you Dutch are generous people with your financial aid, and that you give a larger share of your GDP than America does.

But if I offered you 20% of my $100 paycheck, or 2% of my $1 million paycheck, which would you rather have?

This country does plenty of good in the world. We've bought the right to not do business with nations whose governments we find disagreeable.

Angry Does no one learn!?!

You would think that, after Iraq, people would know the right questions to ask. And, yet, everyone is still missing the obvious. The options with Iran are:
  1. Do nothing.
  2. Impose sanctions of one type or another.
  3. Attack.

The question that should be asked (especially in the case of #3) is what's next. As we learned in Iraq, the U.S. military will get the job done with respect to the war itself. However, as we also learned in Iraq, after the war is won, how do we win the peace?

Iraq is an opportinity lost. The Bush administation could have Mcdonalds and WalMart and every other US business generating money in Iraq.

The simple importation of American business would have a great influence on Iraqi affairs. The security issues disallow that solution to be inconsequential.

Unfortunately as long as the US is the only one to recognize threats, nothing can be done. We can not secure the entire world, and the UN is not willing to do anything to enforce their own charter. So, we can only do the best we can, and wait for someone other country to see the threat and join in.

This is a difficult question. The Bush idea has been that by diminishing the population the problems will vanish as well. What he did in Iraq - killing 2 million people and throwing 4 million to refugee camps - it has been possible to keep the violence caused by the independence and democracy fighters modest. This can be further developed.

In Iran, it is necessary to use better methods for population reduction. It has been shown that e.g. the depleted uranium weapons in Iraq kill too slowly - it is necessary to use the enriched one. The cluster bombs have been very effective especially among children which will eliminate the future threat of those independence fighters. There are also good WW2 time results that concentrating people to certain camps the anti-terrorism work can be more efficient.

These questions have once been solved in Europe - just employ German-English interpretters.
