Re: Bridge Team Oppressed for Opposing Bushs Treason

The Bridge players are free to speak their mind. They can say what they want to say ... They shouldn't have their feelings hurt just because some people don't want to play with them when they speak out ... Freedom is a two-way street ... I don't really care what the Bridge players said. I want to do what I think is right for the American people, and if some Bridge players or famous card players feel like speaking out, that's fine. That's the great thing about America. It stands in stark contrast to Iraq...

the fact that the Neocons are now even oppressing women Bridge players for opposing their Fuhrer is indeed very chilling--who will be next?

What paranoia, you both should seek therapy for your pathological obsession with George Bush. I am thinking bipolar disorder with tendency towards paranioa.

Some idiots actually believe that the Bush Administration had something to do with this, as though Dick Cheney has the president of the United States Bridge Federation on speed dial.

It may never have occured to such pathologically partisan hacks that the punishment has nothing to do with the partisan leaning of their actions, but the fact that it was partisan at all. Many organizations pride themselves on being a-political. My guess is that they would probably be facing the same punishment if they had been apologizing for Nancy Pelosi.

Freedom of Speech is not the same thing as consequence free speech, and even if it were, it applies only to GOVERNMENT restraint. Private organizations have EVERY right to regulate and punish the speech of its members and representatives. I wonder if you would be leaping to the defense of someone who had said something you disagreed with or were even offended by if they were being singled out for punishment as a result (you lead many posts supporting Imus when he was fired for "free speech")

oh... (most words stolen from bush - I just replaced "Dixie Chicks with "Bridges Players" etc...)

What do you think bush will say if he is stupid enough to address the issue once again?

And nobody is denying them free speech, they are free to say whatever they want, they are NOT free to do so, what they do not have a natural right to is to force their affiliation on any private organization that does not wish to be associated with their views.

Again, freedom of speech, not consequence free speech.

I think it is pretty clear that some are born with rights more intact than others. Our Founding Fathers also wrote the Constitution that is largely ignored.

Actually Matt, mkultra is absolutely right that we are endowed by our creator with the inalienable right to freedom of speech, it is something we have at all times by virtue of our very existence. Where mkultra is wrong is in thinking we have FREE speech (as in free of any cost or consequence) as opposed to FREEDOM of speech; otherwise voting for or against political candidates merely because of what they say would be a violation of their inalienable rights.

Kind of like you getting all bent out of shape over a bridge association's directors or board or whatever (the governing body of the sport) banning a team from competition, which you think is done by Bush. Pretty stupid on your part no?

Or maybe i could just stoop down to your level:

Re: Bridge Team Oppressed for Opposing Bushs Treason

well its natural to blame Bush since we all see how the neocons reacte to dissent of any kind on every level--(Bush is so riled by dissent he can only give speeches now before captive audiences who arent allowed to boo or heckle him)--King George has created this climate of intolerance against people who oppose his anti human agenda

Hmmm, several prominent pro-choice Republicans were speakers at the last GOP Convention...how many pro-lifers took the rostrum at the DNC Convention? And how about that rousing support for Joe Lieberman for disagreeing with the party on one issue! Great big party of tolerance you have there!

PS - the jest is in response to the bottom feeders, deal with it! - you want to steal it from me go ahead - I'm honored.
