How can you say they're abusing their power? What they did is entirely legal, and they're entitled to question anyone in the land they want. There are shenanigans in the Siegelman case and they're trying to get to the bottom of it.

You're with Rove because that little twerp shined your boy's shoes. You have no legal basis to be against Congress's actions.

This has been a rogue administration from the beginning; the most abusive of its power in modern history. They've gone way beyond the bounds of executive power and have gotten away with it only because of a weak-kneed Congress of both R's and D's. One toadied up to the executive because he was the leader of their party and the other was both powerless and afraid to assert itself. Contrary to what you say, Congress has been more like sheep than lions since 2000, when it comes to standing up to power.

I agree and disagree. I agree that it's up to Congress to exert their right of oversight into those matters they deem necessary. Prior decisions in Watergate and Clinton have dealt specifically with Executive Privilege and it's proper use theirof. I haven't seem anything in the White House claims invoking EP that seem to fit into those definitions.

What I believe is going on now in the House is that they are awaiting Judge Bates' decision in the Meirs and Bolton contempt case. His decision will dictate what Nancy Pelosi does. And based off of what I know about Judge Bates, he will rule that this case has no standing in Federal Court since Congress has not exhausted all remedies. Basically it means that Congress has available to them inherent contempt and that rememdy to contempt of congress must be used first.

That's my opinion anyway.

on edit:

Well, allow me to say I was wrong on Judge Bates' decision on Meirs and Bolton. He dismissed their claims.

Re: Rove Served Subpoena

I'm betting now that this judge has pretty much given Congress the green light to proceed, they will fold as usual.

Maybe Pelosi will issue a bold and decisive statement saying an investigation will be scheduled for February 2009. Possibly even impeachment proceedings then too.

Doubt it...Pelosi just yesterday said "it is more important to try to bring together this divided country"....I saw this on Fox last night from a clip from "the view".

Okay, and Congress is just the outfit to do that.

Well, Congress DID bring us together in one way. Most Americans, regardless of party, HATE the Congress.
