No one is saying that we should arm our citizens. We are, on the other hand, saying they should have the choice.

As one who is trying to see the point of this thread and trying to see any point through the ad hominems, I'll make a guess that rather than whining about the shooting and other than whining about how bad America is, that you are actually proposing a solution?

See, if one is going to whine, it's a good idea to have a solution to go with the whine. It's kind if like peanut butter and jelly - they go together.

I don't see a way to "disarm" the civil society in the US in less than two generations, without constant and massive spending of tax dollars and creating a feeling of individual defencelesness. So my suggestion is: If you're an american and sick of a constantly high level of crimes in which firearms are involved, try to convince your fellow citizens into massively cutting down their possibilities of self-defence, in favour of their grandchildren living in a more or less gun-free society one day. If you don't have that time, come here to central Europe, we are unarmed and feel safe. On the other hand, if you feel fine with the idea of living in a society which might make it necessary to carry a gun with you, you might want to practise shooting someone (please only dry runs, better leave practical exercises to law enforcement).

I don't know if gun control is the solution to gun crime, though. I have seen others bring forth valid arguments that gun control does little to curb lethal crime.

Does your country believe that people should not be able to defend themselves if attacked? If you are looking for a reason why people kill each other, it is no more complex than human nature is that people want what other peopel have, and they either beleive its ok to take it by force or to earn it through work. Given that our govt takes what it wants by force from its own people, it is not surprise that people use govt as a model for their own behavior.

If God really cared about the parishoners he would have given the gunman a heart attack right before he entered the premisis.

Mass shootings are not just casual incidents, that is a sing of obscuration, according to theory of ethnogenesis by Lev Gumilev.

The German stance on gun control:

"The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed the subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the supply of arms to the underdogs is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty." - Adolf Hitler

I have already discussed the issue several times and was able to prove that in 2005, in the US eight times more people died of crimes in which firearms were involved than that was the case in Germany. The assumption that the other seven germans were killed by different kind of arms can be easily disproven, too. It's a simple equation: guns kill people more effectively than other common arms. Hence the more guns are out there, the more people die.

I would like to see that discussion. Do you have a link to it?

Then go with the other option I suggested. I guess it became clear that I basically don't care, for I can change nothing and the situation doesn't affect me, either.

You misunderstand. I'm completely cool with germans not having guns.

Try to take ours, though, and your day will take a dramatic turn for the worse...
