Re: Oprah refuses to have Palin on show

While I like Oprah--this is of NO surprise. Oprah Winfrey has been out CAMPAIGNING for Barack Obama. Politics is something that Oprah has over the years avoided. NOT THIS TIME--she has thrown her hat, 100% of it in Barack Obama's corner.

Oprah would not interview Hillary Clinton either. If Oprah put Sarah Palin on her show, in front of millions of women--after the show they would be saying--"Barack Obama WHO?

Oprah would insure Barack Obama's defeat.

In fact, if she had Sarah Palin on, I'd imagine that Obama would spontaneously combust on the spot, and angels would float down from heaven to carry us all off to bliss. Because that's just how super-duper awesome Sarah Palin is.

Good God - switch the names around and you sound just like those who are a bit creepy with their idolizing of Obama.

Oprah isn't having her on because it's her policy not to take Dr Phil's guests.

The good Dr is having a special where he'll be counseling unwed mothers who are daughters of Republican Vice Presidential candidates.

Get Real.

DRUDGE REPORT FLASH
Good for her, she's standing by her principals. No reason to give voice to an ideology you don't agree with, especially this close to the election. If Palin want's an audience, she'll have to find another outlet.

I think she has an absolute right to have or not have anyone on her show. I just really think this is a dumb decision that will hurt her ratings and her brand.

Hey, her numbers went down when she supported Obama over Clinton. I doubt it will help her ratings to stiff a female VP nominee.

I take it as a sign that she doesn't care all that much about ratings. Again, if you ever start to see her ratings tank - as in drop off drastically - then she may be obliged to invite guests on to her show with whom she disagrees. Until that happens, she can invite anyone on to her show that she feels like.

Besides, just because someone is a woman doesn't mean she's automatically going to get an invite to the show, VP nominee or not. To suggest as much could be construed as sexist.

Re: Oprah refuses to have Palin on show

Lets not forget that Oprah is in the tank for Obama and makes no bones about it.

Much hay was made nearly a year ago when Oprah Winfrey announced that she would support — and campaign for — Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama. Her effect in boosting support for Obama in early primary and caucus states like Iowa (which he won), New Hampshire (which he lost) and even South Carolina (which he won) is debatable.
Politico

Obama didn't really really take off until Oprah went out there for him. She gave him instant credibility in the eyes of millions.

Lets see what they have in common and why she might support him:

Race - Obvious
Both live in Chicago - Purely a coincidence I'm sure

Personally, I could care less if Palin is invited to the show. I'd hate to see Oprah try to morph into an actual journalist in an attempt to boost her faves chances. Katie Couric almost pulled it off, but I doubt Oprah could.

Oprah is an entertainer, much like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Glenn Beck. The forum may be different but let's face it, Oprah pushes socialism on her viewers.

Oprah is in the tank for Obama for many reasons.

Problem is Oprah's viewership is mostly white women.

Now that they know Oprah isn't what they thought she was I think Oprah is going to have serious problems trying to maintain her credibility.

Oprah's credibility is what made her so popular.

In the minds of at least half of her viewers that credibility is gone.

The difference being Obama is a fake, he's hiding who he really is.

Palin has character traits so many can relate to.

I think America was lost and now is finding itself.

yes there is a real danger of that, the style of glasses she wears are selling out, no shit....though if she turns inot some pop idol, obama can't make an issue of it, though the media in all their blind advocacy will, not aware that they will in effect be to add some blend of truth re: mccains past "celebrity" adds....it'll be fun to watch actually.

ahhh I DO hear the irony bell ringing, you appear as blind as the media...

do I need to explain the paradox you just created?

But Oprah isn't a Palin supporter and she's not going to attack her on television. That would only feed into this stupid "liberal media bias" thing that McCain campaign is running. But this IS a hoot. Somehow the GOP has decided they have a right to be on a person's daytime talk show. Oprah is not a news outlet and her show is not political. She has guests who SHE is interested in on her show and she doesnt have to explain why. Get over it. Christ.
