it is a obam 57 flag thing but i would rather have the left do this than bash a 17 year old

Then you haven't been really watching Fox. Two of the left wing commentators, Susan Estrich and another blonde (still can't think of her name) - both very left-wing - have ripped Palin's views to shreds, yet at the same time ripping the sexism towards her in the media apart.

One does not have to be left or right wing to criticize sexism, especially when it's blatant.

Stick to the issues. And stick to real sexism.

After a while, all blondes look the same.

But, Susan Estrich sounds like Carol Channing, IMO.

Re: Palin Makes Huge Gaffe: Doesn't understand Mortgage Bailout.

Gaffe or gotcha, I think this issue is going to make barely any difference. It's something people point out for a potential nick in the jar and that's it. She could have just misspoke, or she could have been clueless.

Either way, the subject of what Palin said is just over most people's heads and/or has a 'boring' theme, even if it should really be an important noted gaffe/telling of a major weakness rather than a gotcha. These things also don't merit much media attention because it isn't sizzly stuff. They like whipping up controversy to get sales and egghead issues don't do that.

These are the kinds of messages that more people 'get' that are coming out insofar as hits on McCain and Palin, which I expect will pile up as the race continues such as your standard "I call you out on your BS" kind of ad:

YouTube - "No Maverick" Ad

or a humorous characterisation incorporating a weakness admitted by an opponent:

YouTube - McCain Don't Know Much...

or unofficial gags like:

Michael Palin for President

and likewise stuff on John Stewart on the Daily Show, etc.

This is the kind of stuff that works the massive 'man on the street' moreso than these kinds of issues.

McCain, Palin, Obama and Biden can wonk on each other but it's the kind of stuff like the examples I cited that will stick with more people (and even with the groups I mentioned because they're easier to remember), never mind all the spins, gotchas, mischaracterisations, attacks, and other slick stuff they and/or their supporters all pull that really don't add up to dogshit on true merit but succeed in winning over voters. As Mencken wisely put it: "No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public." They have to keep it simple and dumb it down on alleged facts, outhustle on the hustle insofar as spin, and let all the knuckledraggers out there outsmear the smear (he's a Muslim, her kid is her daughters' etc...y'all know the drill on that).

Re: Palin Makes Huge Gaffe: Doesn't understand Mortgage Bailout.

Yeah, she didn't seem to know what she was talking about. All she really needed to do is pick up a newspaper and read it and she should have been able to understand the mortgage bailout....oh well.

I really don't think people will catch on anyways and all politicians have their slip ups. Her slip ups are definitely going to be magnified because everyone is watching her. But that's just what's she going to have to deal with since nobody knows much about her and people want to know more before voting her into the White House as the next in line to McCain who could be the oldest president in history

I really wish she would just come out and do some interviews...it's really agonizing. She's in a position to be elected into a very powerful position and we deserve to get to know her better so that we can make an informed decision on who to vote for.

"Let's not play games," he said. "What I was suggesting -- you're absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith. And you're absolutely right that that has not come."

Mr. Stephanopoulos interrupted with, "Christian faith."

"My Christian faith," Mr. Obama said quickly.

She's been the candidate for a week and a half.

She's agreed to her first interview this week.

Let's give this complaint a rest.

Yup, Obama is a Muslim, an email told me.

And now he tells us that he’s the one who’s gonna take on the old boys' network,” he said. “In the McCain campaign that’s called a staff meeting!- Obama, 9/17/2008

Yeah with Charlie Gibson, ABC's resident conservative. It'd be like if Obama only did interviews with Hannity on Fox.

So, you don't think St. Obama has ever mis-spoken or explained something poorly?

How about Biden - and consider his lengthy Washington insider history before you answer that one....

Matt
Excuse me? A magazine interview is hardly a live press conference. And she didn't misspeak. She clearly doesn't understand what the hell Fannie & Freddie are. Why would you partisanly defend this woman who is clearly just a bag of corruption and contradiction. EVERYthing she says is repeatedly proven innacurate/false by the media.
