As Angry American said, it's all a mute point since Obama has now changed his mind and is going to Washington. Like I said earlier in this thread, Obama's initial position is almost always wrong and this time is no exception.

Obama Fails Leadership Test - Again
A moot point. It's all a moot point. Geez people.

I think B.Flame was being sarcastic, but it's true, the Republicans are the far-left wingnuts on this issue right now. They want to do something that is no different than what a commie like Hugo Chavez has done.

And Bush just admitted it.

Actually...if I did say LEFT, it was an error.

However, Dodd just told Maddow that himself and many others in Congress have been working diligently, trying to serve the issue and none of them has heard a WORD from Mr. John McCain. He said that his latest tactic seems to be a clear "rescue mission" for the senator.

Busted!

I think the last confirmed sighting of McCain in Washington was in April.

Actually, no, Obama called McCain first. McCain then threw together a news conference rather hastily.

I wonder what he's doing right this minute?

I wonder if any conservative with the balls enough to confront him has?

Cause if I'm a conservative, I'd be like, "Yo, Dude, I know you keep saying you'd rather lose the White House than (insert phoney outrage about any particular issue out there), but how do we get our philosophy through to people if we then have no vessel out there explaining that to the people?".

The other big point this brings up is Gov.Palin's role on the ticket. When McCain stops everything, Palin just stops as well.

If called to do anything, Obama can send Biden, or Obama can go and Biden can hold down the fort.

But now we're watching a situation where McCain/Palin have basically been waging a war on the media for much of this month, and by denying the public an out-in-the-open discussion and debate about this crisis, we're being cheated as voters from the democratic process we deserve.

A President can't just a time-out when the going gets tough.

Re: "John McCain suspends campaigning..."

Isn't it the job of the VP to take over things if the president is not able to? Why can't Sarah Palin do the job for McCain while he's in Washington? Oh wait...

Sarah would destroy Obama in a debate....... By the time she was done he'd be on the floor, sucking his thumb, crying, in the fetal position.

Really?

On what (other than your blind partisanship) do you base this?

From what I've seen of her, Palin would struggle in a debate with Dan Quayle.

Dodd. He's the guy who helped create this mess right? And now he's a credible source?

Huh? Obama wanted a "joint statement." A statement doesn't solve the problem. This is Obama's propensity to think words equal results, which is why an Obama administration would be a disaster.

Re: "John McCain suspends campaigning..."

Warren Buffett--Obama's campaign committee--calls this the "PEARL HARBOR" of our financial disaster. Obama wants to keep on campaigning--while McCain suspends his campaign to go back D. C. to help fix this mess.

Now who's the leader? BTW--the Obama campaign committee admitted that McCain would kick BO's butt on Foreign policy, the debate this coming Friday night that McCain cancelled.

There are politicians that use their career to promote their careers, then there are politicians that use their career to promote America!

Obama called McCain. He initiated contact. You were being disingenuous.

And, how exactly is a man who clearly knows nothing about economics going to solve anything?

Is he going to follow the Bush plan and throw more money at the wealthy bastards who created the problem?

What, exactly, is McCain going to contribute?

Ha. Ha.--who is Obama going to debate? A stuffed dummy of McCain standing at a podeum, ha. ha. Even the stuffed dummy could kick his butt on foreign policy, ha. ha.

The only person in this congress that can actually bring, & has a record of bringing republicans & democrats together is JOHN McCain.

You're man is going to be debating HIMSELF. The Obama campaign has already admitted they would lose this first debate against John McCain on foreign policy.

McCain gave up his first major debate win to go back to D.C for us, not his personal political gain against the "messiah".

"I would rather lose an election, than a war". John McCain This while democrats have invested heavily in defeat & retreat, including Barack Obama--McCain held strong--went against the flow & as we see, is doing it again--at his own peril by cancelling his own campaign until this financial crisis is over.

Barack Obama--shows that he is still in a self-interested mode--still campaigning, still running advertisements. McCain cancelled everything in order to go to D.C to help the American people!
