DNC's Red Army Stars

At the recent Democratic National Convention in Denver, instead of making the red, white and blue star spangaled banner the backdrop like the Republicans did at their convention, the Democrats opted to plaster the facade of the Pepsi Center in Denver with these gigantic and obviously very expensive communist symbols.

To see what I am talking about and see how huge the Red Army stars are you should look at these videos

Personally I think the commie/pinkos are proclaiming that thay have taken control of the Democratic party in the USA.

What do you think?

Re: DNC's Red Army Stars

This is kind of ridiculous. A star is not exactly a distinctive symbol, I don't think many people would connect it to Communism. I see blue stars too, maybe it's supposed to symbolize unity or something.

Re: DNC's Red Army Stars

The California flag has one star, and it's red. I guess California is a communist state.

Not a distinctive symbol?????

They are pretty much ubiquitous on communist military uniforms, aircraft, tanks, etc,etc..

For those of you who are unfamiliar of the political symbolism of the five-pointed red star I will point you to the Nationmaster.com encyclopedia. It gives a general explaination of the political symbolism of the five-pointed red star.

In no particular order, they are: the youth (the future generations), the military (to protect and defend socialism), industrial workers (labourers), agricultural workers (peasantry), and the intelligentsia (to criticize and to improve the ideas and practices of life in order to attain communism). In general, it was the emblem, symbol, and signal that indicated the truth of the new order under the rule and guidance of the Communist Party.
Politically they were first used as symbols of the red army during the Russian civil war/Bolshevik revolution and it wasn't until later that the red five-pointed star became embraced as a symbol of the communist and international socialist political ideology in general.

According to the BBC, a few years ago there was a bit of a controversy in Europe regarding the display of communist symbols such as the red stars that were prominately displayed all over the facade of the Pepsi Center in Denver during the recent 2008 Democratic National Convention.

Personally, I am opposed to banning both Nazi and communist symbols because I look at it as an attempt to stifle people's political opinions. It is an obvious assault on the freedom to express your political opinions. I think any ban on political symbolism is a very dangerous kind of censorship.

However many Europeans think differently about the issue because NAZI and communist symbols open up old wounds from a very oppressive, violent and bloody chapter of recent European history.

In fact, it was a local building contractor and good friend of mine who is an immigrant from Germany that first pointed out the communist symbols on the Pepsi Center to me. We were hanging out in his kitchen having a few beers, talking business and going over the blueprints of an upcomming project so I could give him a cost estimate for the concrete work, check for errors, make recomendations for changes to the plans, etc, etc... Basically just doing alot of work while my spouse thinks I'm out "partying with my friends".

At the same time coverage of the democratic national convention was on the TV in the next room. All of the sudden my friend got up and pointed into the living room and yelled "LOOK! Those fucking bastards put red army stars all over the convention center!".

When I turned around to look I was sort of expecting to see the inevitable group of weirdo attention seeking fringe group "activists" sporting Che T-shirts or holding signs or painting red stars on the sidewalk or some other silly immature shit like what is usuaslly expected from those types of idiots at an event like this. But to my suprise, that's not what it was. I looked at the TV and saw that the DNC had actually installed a bunch of obviously very expensive and gigantic communist symbols all over the Pepsi Center for their convention.

Re: DNC's Red Army Stars

It's a red star in a blue/dark blue/white background. The Soviet and Chinese stars are actually yellow/orange on a red background (with the exception of the naval design).

You wrote your post in English, and everyone knows that the CPUSA uses English in it's communication, newletters, hell, even its functionaries public speeches.

What are you, some sort of communist?

Just when I was convinced Barack was a Nazi (Obama Youth), someone demonstrates he is a communist. Now I'm confused again. Perhaps Ms. Coulter can clarify this for me.
