McCain Aid Calls Palin a 'Whack Job'

It is getting ugly. Now a “top McCain adviser” told Mike Allen of Politico that Palin is “a whack job.”

Re: McCain Aid Calls Palin a 'Whack Job'

A couple thoughts on this.

First, it's a biased piece. Comments such as "Imagine not taking advice from the geniuses at the McCain campaign" mitigate the otherwise pertinent point it was trying to make.

Second, a “top McCain adviser” saying anything means nothing. That's something that's easily written, and absolutely impossible to verify. Such statements are completely meaningless.

If this a “top McCain adviser” had said that McCain was gloing to steamroll Obama on Tuesday, the a “top McCain adviser” would be ridiculed and mocked. But, because it's something negative, the non-thinking left will latch onto it and not let go.

It means nothing. When that a “top McCain adviser” grows some balls and identifies him or herself, it'll mean something. Saving that, it's nothing more than something for which libs can drool over...

Given the growing internal conflict within the campaign itself (and the GOP at large, apparently) and the fact that they're not able to keep that out of the media, I imagine that after the election you'll hear plenty of them self-identifying and talking to anyone who will listen in order to attempt to salvage political careers.

FWIT, my mother, who has voted consistantly Republican, has voted for Obama (absentee ballot) this year, primarily because she thinks Palin is a "whack-job".

I was thinking of starting a thread on this, but I figured I'd wait until after the election.

I've been reading various conservative pundits and their opinions on how to right the ship of the listing Republican Party. There seems to be a very decided split going on about whether Palin is "Reagan-esque" and represents the future of the GOP, or whether she is "Bush-esque" and represents the same sort of Luddite folksiness in lieu of substance and stubbornness in lieu of intellectual curiosity.

The verdict seems to be that she energizes the religious right base, but that no one else likes her.

As a McCain voter, and hesitant supporter, I don't understand why they didn't put a muzzle on Palin for the last two weeks, I question McCains strategy that he's still using and it probably won't cut it, but hey, I got the lesser evil excuse eh? As most swing voters use anyway.

Sarah Palin is a Socialist. We cannot elect her.

Think about what you wrote. This is for the VP position in the United States of America, and everything about this pick is about "muzzling" her. They muzzled her from the beginning and then she just got fed up with it.

They didn't roll her out right from the beginning, and it's partly her fault for not contributing to how she would best be rolled out, doing interviews for local papers and hanging around in smaller towns, building her up for the bigger interviews.

A side note: Katie Couric and Charlie Gibson are two of the easier interviews you could possibly do. Had she really been ready to take this on, she would have been able to handle Face the Nation or Meet the Press like everyone else. Says something that that wasn't even going to be an option.

What criteria had she used previously, candidate's tie color?

Re: McCain Aid Calls Palin a 'Whack Job'

I'm on a board with a guy in his late 70's, he switched to Obama because of Palin, his comment was that he just couldn't understand how McCain could pick her, and from his point of view it indicated that McCain was losing his mind.

And I saw an article that observed the McCain Palin Ticket is tracking Palin's approval ratings more closely than McCain's.
She's the star, but the show is a comedy about a ditzy beauty queen, and he hapless boss

Obviously, she is someone who cares enough about her country to vote for the person and not just blindly vote party lines. Good for her.

Re: McCain Aid Calls Palin a 'Whack Job'

I think that Sarah is getting a bad rap. If there is anything wrong about her being the VP candidate, it is McCain's responsibility, not hers. McCain picked her in order to energize the base and to blunt Obama's post-convention bounce. He did not pick her because of her qualifications as a campaigner or as a VP.

The take away from this is that John, as he admits in his book, doesn't always consider the long-term consequences of his actions. Given the most important decision in his campaign, John went for the dramatic, not the pragmatic.

I would be total conjecture to posit that he would be down even more in the polls now if he hadn't picked Palin but we shouldn't blame Palin for John's choices.

Never mind, but personally attacking a someone's mother is quite offensive. Have you no manners? Thank God my mother brought me up better.
