You gotta reaaaaallly be a Republican hater to listen to more than a couple sentences of this moron.
Franken is only slightly above Michael Moore in credibility...just amazing that enough people voted this guy in...incredible.

It seems to me his competition made it not only possible but even probable, e.g.,

Senator, You Used to Be a Pot Head -- Now You're Talking Like a Narc

By Norman Kent, AlterNet. Posted July 6, 2007.

A letter to GOP Sen. Norm Coleman from a former college friend asking why he supports brutal drug laws when he was an avid pot smoker as a young man.

Editor's Note: The following is a letter addressed to Minnesota Republican Senator Norm Coleman -- a strong advocate of the brutal federal drug laws on the books -- reminding him that he used to be a happy, safe, fun-loving pot smoker.

My friend Norman,

Years ago, in a lifetime far away, you did not oppose the legalization of marijuana. Years ago, in our dorm rooms at Hofstra University, you, me, Billy, your future brother-in-law, Ivan, Jonathan, Peter, Janet, Nancy and a wealth of other students smoked dope.

Sure, we had to tape the doors shut, burn incense and open the windows, but we got high, and yet we grew up okay, without the help of the Office of National Drug Control Policy's advice. . . . .
This same old shit speaks for itself, and that is just the holier than thou conversions of conveniences and self-serving citations of Higher endorsement. Sometimes races are just a nose grabber, so the voter has only a choice of who they think is worse or voting third party or themselves in like ThorHammer did IIRC (a vote I believe he felt was well cast in that race). Coleman already proved that he stunk, so enough probably felt that they had nowhere else to go but up by picking Franken.

What amazes me instead is the kinds of choices so often available on a ballot given population size, etc. Mathematically, great candidates should always be on the ballot, but alas....

I didn't like Al Franken's radio show: he seemed to ramble on about nonsensicle stuff. He is an itelligent man however. Perhaps he can use some of it now be a good representative.

I th really think that the cadidate chhoice question is one of good poeple not wanted to get involved in the constant feeding frenzie and having to back through their lives from birth.

Re: Al Franken Wins Seat

I for one love it...

I hope he votes lock step with the rest of the democrats.

the fact he gives them 60 votes means ANYTHING that passes as a law now soley lies at the feet of the democrats.

taxes, cap and trade, federal health care....

2010 is going to be a good year to run as a conservative.

Re: Al Franken Wins Seat

60 seats, and were it not for GOP stupidity, us Dems would have had to wait til 2013 to be in this position.
Not only that but the GOP Senatorial fund has wasted a couple of million dollars keeping Franken out of the seat he won for 5 months. Time for Franken to hand his lawyers bill over to the GOP for prompt payment, I sure hope he retained nothing but the finest highest priced lawyers in the nation, and I hope they put in long hours on coming up with the strategy to win an election where the votes had already been counted and their man was ahead. Because the thought of all that GOP cash being paid to Democrats puts a warm glow on the evening.

Re: Al Franken Wins Seat

Before Franken and the rest gets too smug, he should ask himself if he would even be competitive in Minnesota now.

Anything but Bush wasn't terribly smart to begin with, be now that we know exactly what we got, its the definition of moronic.

Hanky?
Well my slow friend I am not lamenting this fact. I think it is fantastic that the liberals have sent Stuart Smiley to the senate. It shows you people for the mentally ill freaks you are.

"The definition of moronic?" Really? How?

Minnesota has a long and proud progressive tradition. I see this as being consistent with their history.

I dont really beleive the "you smoked pot in college, so you should always be for it" argument. People grow up. Drugs are bad.
