Amen to that.

How come the far left or the far right always seem to wanna tell people what to buy or how to behave? What ever became of minding your own business?

The first step to finally get that stupid yuppie scum crap off the market. At last a community with some values. I've always thought it was totally retarded to buy bottled water like that, especially some of that high end fancy premium bottled water. Especially given the lack of regulation as found by the FDA recently. And given that most of that bottled water is just plain old tap water with a premium charged for it I'm glad to see this.
There oughta be a LAW!!!!

Actually, I think the first step to getting something off the market would be to convince people not to buy it. When demand goes away, supply goes away. That's much simpler than legislation of that sort, which winds up leaving us with laws on the book that make the system a joke 100 years later, such as a law in Cicero Illinois that outlaws humming on Sundays or a New York state law that flirting carries a $25 fine.

That is, you waste the legislature's time and money of the taxpayers creating knee jerk, permanent laws about temporary issues.

Re: Yuppie water loosing favor good.

Another funny thing is that the vote for the law in the town where it passed was nearly unanimous (with only two people dissenting). This tells me that the sale of bottled water wasn't exactly a "problem" anyway, since everyone in town was already against it.

Next week on the agenda, passing a non-binding resolution that babies are adorable.

Why didn't they just stop buying it? They knew the price and they knew the taste, so wouldn't it be easier and less authoritarian to just stop purchasing it? Hell, if it's tap water, buy some empty bottles and fill them with it.

Uh, no, it's not just water. It is the gathering, purification, bottling (that includes cost of making bottles), transportation, storage and selling (retail employment cost) of water.

The Goddess must be outraged that Rhamota has the secret to bottling, transporting and selling her water for $0.25 a gallon, and he isn't sharing it.

Poor Goddess.....

Re: Yuppie water loosing favor good.

I actually rather like bottled water, particularly Pellegrino. But if I use just plain water, I put some of the mint I grown in my yard in it and shake it up. That's really refreshing.

Matt You know I would complain to a moderator about the disgusting and insulting disrespectful attitude youa re showing towards me and my faith but considering how you are a moderator I guess it would be rather pointless.

You mean the connecting to the municipal tap water and printing up a fancy package and tricking and lying to people making them think they are drinking something other than regular ol tap water they can get from their municipal source? Pointless and irrellevant vanity that can all be cut down on as overhead.

Buy a Canteen, have all the bottled water you need when you can fill it up.
Exactly. Nice pure clean spring water from the well on my farm.

So, exactly what is wrong with letting you and people like you not buy that water (as you clearly already know it's tap water and wouldn't be caught dead buying it), and allowing a handful of people who like buying water already in a convenient bottle to buy it?

Well, then maybe you should reconsider posting retarded bullshit...

Let me ask you something, Sport: Why do you care what I spend my money on?

I make a good living. I buy nice things. I buy things I enjoy. I enjoy not having to fill up a canteen at the tap when I want to have water in the car.

Why do you give a fuck?

It's the socialist way. They want to "get back" at big business by banning something they do. Doesn't matter if none of them will buy the stuff anyway. Ban it anyway! Why? Because THERE OUGHTA BE A LAW!

Re: Yuppie water loosing favor good.

Why do I care because I hate seeing companies getting away with fraudulent activities stealign money from people. Because bottled water like that is an over priced scam that people need to be protected from. Because companies should not be allowed to make a profit off of somethign as basic as water. Somethign as essential and necesary for human life.

I would sincerely hope not the amount of evil and selfishness that would be brought here from you would take weeks to purify out of here.

Well, clearly, you've blown the lid off of that, so what is the point of "protecting" people when they already know what there is to know about it? If you're so concerned, why not just push for having them write "this is from the tap" on each bottle (if that is indeed the case)?

They're not making a profit off of that. They are making a profit off of collecting, purifying, bottling, transporting, selling, etc... the water. Once again, people are free to get it from the tap, but, like Steve said, some prefer to pay a little extra for the bottled version as they are willing to pay extra for convenience. Admit it, you just hate other people's profits and want to do away with free market business.

Ah yes, us and our evil desire to offer people convenience for money.

Still, you've failed at making a valid point.

I don't buy it because I think it's more pure (although an argument can be made that it tastes better, as tap water in southern California isn't very good at all).

I buy it because it's convenient...

I'm sorry, remind me again who the whiner was?

Oh, right. That was you...

You're the one claiming that your "farm" has a well with nice, pure water. Why would you want to deny that to someone?

If you're not going to let those who want it to come get it, you're being a hypocrite if you bitch about us buying bottled water.

But, none of that matters. Bottled water will never go away. People like me will continue to buy it because we can, and people like you will continue to get your panties in a wad over it.

So it's all good...
