I originally wrote the following: "Admit it, you just hate other people's profits" as "Admit it, you just hate profits." I think it was a good move to spend those extra seconds adding in the bold part.

You mean the connecting to the municipal tap water and printing up a fancy package and tricking and lying to people making them think they are drinking something other than regular ol tap water they can get from their municipal source? Pointless and irrellevant vanity that can all be cut down on as overhead.

Exactly. Nice pure clean spring water from the well on my farm.
The best way to learn your bottled waters is to travel and have nothing else sanitary to drink.

Distilled water is the cleanest. But it has minerals added because, sadly, it has no taste.

There are some filtered waters out there, which I shall not name, but which I will not buy. They are touted as just that -- filtered water, but they are filtered through old dialysis machines, they forget to tell you that part. (Were's that barfing smiley.)

Spring water is a craps shoot.

Tap water is fine when I am at home. But I won't drink from a water fountain because the water shoots up and they are nasty. When the drain is next to the part that propels the water upward, germs are bound to mingle there.. (Barfing smiley again.)

Bringing your own canteen or bottle is also convenient and a lot cheaper in the long run.

And if you where to show up on my door in need, in friendship, or at the very least in politeful respect I would not hesitate to share what I have with anyone with nothign more than a few kind words in exchange. As a matter of fact I have done so. Come here with the hateful disgusting rapacious attitudes exhibited here on this website and I might unleash the hounds upon you. No hypocracy involved. Treat me as your equal and brother human and I will do the same for you. Treat me like I am beneath you and you will not get the same results.

Buying a pack of bottles is much more convenient. They come in disposable containers, already filled and in large quantities. If you buy bottles, you have to fill them up individually. Less convenient.

Oh, so you demand something in exchange for something that belongs to The Goddess, and just happens to be on your property? Sinful water profiteer!

Oh yeah, I'm sure they'll be able to ban bottled water. They were so successful with Prohibition, after all!

I am curious as to why you want to deny bottled water to those who know it's "from the tap" but still prefer the convenience. You know, maybe some people don't have hours and hours to blow getting water from the well, growing their own food, raising their own livestock, and building their own homes by hand and prefer to pay for the bottling by buying already bottled water.

No, it's the drinking water fountain outside of the restroom, but I wouldn't be surprised if they fed it the same water they feed the toilet. That's why I drink bottled water. It's almost always decent.

What the frak are you talking about? What I said a few kind words, human companionship nothign that could be considered asking for a profit or denying someone somethign because they couldn't pay only if they where an asshole or dick about it. The only thing I demand is the same basic respect and decency that should be shown to any other brother or sister of humanity.

Minding your own business and not trying to tell everyone exactly how to live and think is free.

Good, then I'm glad we agree it's more convenient (at least for many people) to buy bottled water.

Well, believe it or not, one can profit in ways other than through receiving money. There are also goods and services, such as the service of kind words. Just because your demand doesn't concern money doesn't mean you don't profit.

And all the water companies are demanding is the basic respect and decency that they should get, by being paid, for bring convenience and water to the masses. Why do you hate those brothers and sisters of humanity?

Rapacious. Now THERE's a word! But, as black and white as Steve is, IMNSHO, it is far to fancy.

As for bottled water. It won't go away regardless how many laws are made in this country or any other. In other countries, like China, they drink it like, uh well I was going to say water, but they drink one hell of a lot of bottled water there because the water isn't fit to drink unless it is boiled. You see the thermoses in all the apartments and they drink that hot tea ad infinitum. It is there for travelers, and at the Beijing University Hospital their best advice regarding water was to drink distilled as it is the only truly safe water. They drink it like there is no tomorrow. And no one is going to stop them because it is a health concern. They do not have the means to purify ground water for an entire community the way we do. There will always be a market there. China has cut it's mortality rate in half just by getting people to boil their water. And they do like and drink the bottled water because it is clean.

Also, in Egypt, bottled water is served everywhere. We didn't have a single meal the entire time I was there that the cold bottled water wasn't waiting for us on the table. And it was a welcome site I might add.

We are NOT the only people in the world hrere in this country. We are not the only country in the world. We are lucky to have the chemicals to purify our water, and I suppose we are lucky to have the horse dung to make fluoride from to put in our water. But I can tell you this. Bottled water is NOT just a 'yuppy' drink in the rest of the world. It is the ONLY clean water there is. It will NOT go away in spite of some grandiose statement by a bunch of Aussies!

If that is your expectation, I think you may have chosen the wrong discussion forum!

You treat anyone who doesn't believe what you do as a lesser person who must be forced to do what you want them to. This thread is a perfect example.
