I agree. There was no translation error and her response was appropriate.

From the OP:

Quote:
The student asked Clinton what President Obama would think of the deal, but pool reporters in the room said the translator made a mistake and asked what Bill Clinton would think.

I don't know who spoke the language and who didn't but I have no reason to doubt the OP.

Irrelevant, in terms of her response.

Re: Hillary snaps at college kid asking question

If I was a high level official & was answering questions & some college kid asked me a question regarding something that pertained to my job duty description-& then proceeded to ask what my husband thought about it--I would have flipped out too.-LOL.

The student was disrespectful toward Hillary Clinton & her position as Secretary of State & he deserved that snap.

It doesn't really matter whether the translation was messed up or not. Hillary's response was inappropriate. She clearly can't handle the job given to her. Hopefully in two years Obama will appoint Bill to her job and Hillary can go back to riding her husband's coattails.

Wierd, that was some freudian thing there. She's jealous her husband succeded in a mission, I'd figure she'd be proud. Maybe she was just having a bad day though, we've all been testy from time to time. It doesn't reflect well though on the office when she does that, and she should be more thoughtful in her responses. She is the head diplomat of the US after all. I can't imagine Colin Powell having that kind of reaction.

She's the leading diplomat of the country though. That wasn't very diplomatic, she just got mad at a guy for a pretty honest question. I guess I fail to see the problem about asking a secratery to the president what their spouse thought about a mission they were sent on, or just being asked about the views of a former president's mission in general. If she didn't want to talk about it (which makes sense, often officials do not comment on the oppinions of other official), she just should have said she can't comment on it. She just came off as very undiplomatic in that clip (and that is her job, she also sets the standards for the other diplomats who work under her).

Really? You and I have a different concept of similarity then. Because your analogy just doesn't jive to me.

Seriously?

I don't think there is anything wrong with a journalist asking a secretary of state what they thought about their spouses oppinion who was sent on a mission. They can just refuse to anwser and say they don't know, or they aren't at liberty to discuss it. But this is an apropriat question for a journalist to ask. Why do you think it's not? Isn't it the press's job to aquire information?

You can be sure that Madeline Albright could be a tough, mean and agressive person that did not suffer fools gladly behind closed doors, because the job calls for it, but in public she maintained decorum and didn't get pissy over a dumb question from a college kid.
Well said.

Nevermind, if this translation is accurate then CNN was being misinformative, just doing the typical right wing media thing to put the left in a bad light, in a way that is impossible to defend themself against. The question as posed in this clip was given an appropriate response.

If she had been asked the question in public by a high ranking offficial of the government of that country I suspect her response would have been different. It would still be an inappropriate question ( no one ever asked Bill what Hillary thought about anything while he was President) but I think she would have been a lot more diplomatic in her response.
