The problem I have with that statement is that there is nothing inherently wrong wtih questioning someone's patriotism, just as there is nothing inherently wrong with accusing someone of being racist, or socialist. It is however what they BASE those accusations on. There are in fact many on the left who ARE unpatriotic, who do not believe that this is a great nation, or a nation that is worthy of any particular admiration or loyalty. They are in fact, unpatriotic.

Then there are people who however well intentioned, simply reject the basic values and culture that made this country great to begin with. They are not unpatriotic, they are simply misguided and out of touch with the basic values that made this country great.

Joe Wilson is an arrogant bigoted jerk who probably cries every night over the south loosing the civil war. He deserves to be punished severely for his failure of decorum, his disrespect of a great citizen and human being and even worse his disrespect for the office of President of the United States.

Those basic values and culture need to be modified and changed to update this country into the modern world. We are no longer the only country around. This is a multinational community that we can either be a part of or be the schoolyard bully and try and beat everyone else up to make them like us.
